The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Role Purpose

The Front-End Developer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining user-facing components across multiple applications and platforms. This role focuses on delivering intuitive, responsive, and high-performing interfaces while ensuring consistency with organizational standards and best practices.  The Front-End Developer will leverage modern front-end technologies and frameworks to enhance usability, accessibility, and overall user experience. They should be comfortable working independently on assigned tasks while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams, translating business and user requirements into technical solutions. 

Key Responsibilities

 

- Design, develop, and maintain front-end components for web-based applications 

- Implement secure, responsive, and accessible user interfaces following modern UX/UI best practices 

- Collaborate with backend developers, UX designers, and stakeholders to deliver complete solutions 

- Translate business requirements and user feedback into functional front-end solutions 

- Optimize applications for performance, scalability, and cross-browser compatibility 

- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve front-end issues in a timely manner 

- Follow established coding standards, version control practices (Git), and development workflows 

- Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives 

- Maintain documentation related to front-end design, development, and deployment 

Experiences/Education - Required

 

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field 

- 4+ years of professional experience in front-end or web application development 

- Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+) 

- Experience with modern front-end frameworks and libraries (React, Angular, or Vue) 

- Proven ability to test and deliver production-ready, user-facing applications 

- Knowledge of responsive design, web accessibility standards (WCAG), and cross-browser compatibility 

- Proficiency with Git version control workflows and modern build tools (Webpack, Vite, npm, or yarn) 

Experiences/Education - Desired

 

- Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), SAP Commerce Cloud / Spartacus, or Salesforce 

- Experience with cloud-based platforms and deployment environments (AWS, Azure) 

- Experience with Design Systems and component libraries (e.g., Storybook) 

- Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and SEO best practices 

- Familiarity with Next.js or similar frameworks 

- Exposure to mobile app development or additional languages (Python, Java, .NET) 

- Experience with AI-assisted development tools (code.dev, cursor)

The range for this position is $79,714.00 - $109,607.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
