Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Scope of Position

The Global Demand Planning Summer Intern will support the Supply Chain organization by assisting with demand planning and forecasting activities for assigned product lines. This internship provides an opportunity for a college student to gain practical experience in supply chain planning, data analysis, forecasting, and cross-functional collaboration within a global business environment.

Under the guidance of the demand planning team, the intern will help analyze historical sales data, support forecast updates, prepare reports, and assist with ongoing planning processes. This role is well suited for a student with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and an interest in supply chain, operations, or business analytics.

Responsabilities

  • Support the development and maintenance of short-term and long-term demand forecasts for assigned product lines.
  • Analyze historical sales trends and assist in identifying demand drivers, forecast risks, and opportunities.
  • Prepare and organize forecast data for planning reviews and ongoing analysis.
  • Assist in reviewing forecast performance and investigating forecast variances.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Commercial, Product Line Management, Supply Chain, and Operations, to gather relevant business inputs.
  • Support the maintenance and use of demand planning systems and forecasting tools.
  • Assist in monitoring key forecasting and demand planning performance metrics.
  • Participate in demand review meetings and support documentation of key actions and follow-up items.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to forecasting processes, reporting, and data quality.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
