Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Scope of Position
The Global Demand Planner position is a key role within the Corning Supply Chain. The global demand planner is responsible for all forecasting activities associated with customers and finished good products for their respective product lines. The demand planner creates and maintains forecast models for their product line incorporating business intelligence and forecast information gathered from commercial and product line management as well as incorporating other key external data sources.
The demand planner is the integration point between commercial & product line management and operations. Basic forecast modeling is the responsibility of this position. This position leads the dialogue each month for their respective product lines to come to a consensus on the short-term demand plan and overall long-term forecast. An enthusiastic self-starter, with a strong drive to improve existing processes and systems is highly desired. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to balance immediate / long term priorities and exceptional multitasking skills are a necessity. Key objectives will be maintaining and improving forecast and overall demand plan, delivering and improving on current forecasting and demand planning processes
Key Responsibilities
• Review historical sales trends, research demand drivers, prepare forecast data, develop statistical forecast models, and evaluate forecast results.
• Coordinate cross-functional research activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model to reflect updated commercial and product line management assumptions.
• Utilize a collaborative and consensus approach by working with commercial and product line management to obtain and ensure that current and accurate information is used for demand forecasts.
• Use and maintain the Demand Planning software (SAP – APO) as the primary forecasting system tool.
• Closely coordinate and communicate changes in demand plan with supply chain and operations.
• Prepare and maintain relevant reports pertaining to demand planning process.
• Track and report performance of key metrics versus forecasts and business plans, report to senior management as required, including but not limited to wMAPE and FVA.
Required Qualifications
• Previous supply chain experience
• Degree in Supply Chain Management or similar discipline preferred
• Very strong analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative) with ability to see the big picture as well as the individual details
• Methodical and detail oriented – ability and willingness to dig through large amounts of data to find anomalies, outliers, and/or errors
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills (oral & written)
Desired Qualifications
• Demonstrated proficiency in statistics, forecasting and forecasting methods with an understanding of their financial and operational impacts.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office & Power BI
• Experience with SAP APO
• Working knowledge of ERP systems or planning software applications
• Self-starter with the ability to work independently under pressure and react quickly to changing priorities
• Able to work in a team environment

The range for this position is $74,072.00 - $101,849.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
