Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Scope of Position

The Summer Intern will support the Global Planning team in developing insights, improving planning processes, and helping align demand, supply, capacity, and inventory considerations across the business. This role will also assist with customer supply chain management for key customers during a period of significant growth in this part of the business.

The intern will work closely with members of the Global Planning team and cross-functional partners to analyze data, support planning activities, and contribute to initiatives that improve service, execution, and decision-making in a complex global supply chain environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Global Planning team with analysis related to demand, supply, capacity, and inventory
  • Assist with customer supply chain management activities for key hyperscale data center customers
  • Help gather, organize, and validate data used in planning, forecast discussions, and customer supply reviews
  • Support work related to forecast accuracy, inventory optimization, and supply chain performance tracking
  • Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and planning summaries for internal stakeholders and customer-related discussions
  • Partner with planning, manufacturing, supply chain, and operations teams on project work and process improvement efforts
  • Contribute to initiatives related to planning processes, systems, and operational efficiency
  • Assist with KPI tracking and help identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities in support of business growth
  • Document action items, follow-ups, and key takeaways from cross-functional meetings
  • Provide analytical and project support for strategic or operational supply chain initiatives during the summer assignment

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, Operations, Analytics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Excel; experience with SAP, data visualization tools, or analytical tools is a plus
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in supply chain planning, customer operations, or manufacturing
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

​The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
