Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The Global Planning Manager is responsible for developing and executing global supply chain strategies that align capacity, demand, and supply across regions while ensuring exceptional customer service. This role leads global planning processes, manages Customer Supply Chain Analysts, and works closely with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional internal teams to optimize supply chain performance, improve forecasting accuracy, mitigate risks, and support corporate objectives through effective end-to-end supply and demand planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead global capacity and demand planning (SIOP) to align customer needs, corporate objectives, and supply chain capabilities.
  • Oversee Customer Supply Chain Analysts and guide Product Line Planners to ensure product-level planning and execution align with global strategies.
  • Collaborate with key customers to understand demand models, synchronize orders, and represent customer demand in forecast consensus meetings.
  • Drive global replenishment strategies, improve forecast accuracy, and manage inventory transitions for new product introductions.
  • Partner with manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams to ensure flexible capacity models, security of supply, and contingency plans across product lines.
  • Lead initiatives focused on inventory optimization, Slow-Moving and Obsolete Inventory reduction, product availability, and operational efficiency while monitoring global KPIs such as on-time delivery, inventory, and cost.
  • Lead cross-functional supply chain improvement projects and provide regular updates, business reviews, and strategic planning input to global stakeholders.

Experiences/Education - Required

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or related field
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in supply chain planning, with a focus on operations and team management
  • Experience planning, demand forecasting, and supply chain optimization at both the global and/or product-specific levels
  • Experience in leadership with the ability to manage and mentor a team across multiple regions
  • Experience working with internal teams, external stakeholders, and manage a reporting team
  • Experience in advanced planning systems (preferred SAP/Kinaxis) and analytical tools
  • Experience in driving supply chain improvements and achieving operational targets, with the ability to manage both strategic and tactical aspects of planning

Experiences/Education - Desired

 

  • MBA or Master’s degree
  • Professional certification in supply chain management, operations, or engineering (APICS, PMP, Six Sigma)

The range for this position is $135,540.00 - $186,368.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
