Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Purpose of Position
The Hyperscale Data Center Innovation Manager serves as a critical component within Corning Optical Communication, primarily focusing on the development of our fiber optic connector portfolio. Their role is to systematically identify, investigate, and address the needs of our customers, translating these into unique and competitive solutions. The Innovation Manager will collaborate extensively with diverse teams, ranging from engineering to legal, to actualize these solutions while safeguarding our intellectual property rights. By maintaining a vigilant awareness of market trends, customer feedback, and competitive landscape, this role ensures that Corning's offerings remain on the cutting edge of industry innovation. The overarching objective of the Hyperscale Data Center Innovation Manager is to solidify our market standing and continually deliver superior, innovative solutions to our clientele.
Major Roles and Responsibilities
- Understand customer needs in the data center market through research and feedback.
- Develop unique, value-adding solutions to customer problems
- Monitor customer trends, competitor strategies, and technology changes to ensure Corning's growth and innovation.
- Develop an IP portfolio around the new solutions while protecting our company's intellectual property, including patents and copyrights, related to our new solutions.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field such as engineering, computer science, business, or a related discipline is preferred.
- 5+ years' experience within the hyperscale market or application space.
- 10+ years' experience in Sales/Marketing, product management, RD&E, manufacturing, or ES.
- Proven experience in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
- Knowledge of hyperscale data center networks and their challenges when deploying fiber optic solutions.

The range for this position is $148,181.00 - $203,749.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
