The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Scope of Position:

  • OC Financial Interns provide support for the day-to-day analysis of spending trends across the Optical Communications BU’s. This is a combination of both project and operational activities. This role also has a strong link to both IT Cost and OC Finance.
  • Successful candidates will be adept at data analysis and interpretation as it relates to business unit spending and Bill of IT.


Possible projects include:

  • Provide analysis on a weekly and monthly basis of IT spending.
  • Work with IT Finance team to develop data extracts of spending by department
  • Process improvement recommendations
  • Analysis of monthly spending versus actuals to uncover trends
  • Analyzing purchase data tracking system to identify improvements or cost savings

Education and Experience :

  • Enrolled in IT, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or Engineering program.
  • Course work completed to include: Data Analysis or Finance
  • Relevant experience a plus

Required Skills :

  • Ability to work both individually and in a team environment
  • Detail oriented, especially with financial data
  • Computer literate in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively present information
  • Results-oriented
  • Flexible and open to changing requirements

Desired Skills

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data and use tools such as Microsoft Excel (advanced), Microsoft Access, or the equivalent
