The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Position Summary: The Digital PMO Leader is responsible for the oversight of an enterprise wide portfolio, the health of that portfolio, and the value of the portfolio, embodying all digital activities across the global enterprise. The Digital PMO leader will work with the individual businesses and functions for the overall lifecycle of the portfolio including intake, prioritize, appropriately track, monitor and measure value outcomes of all digital initiatives corporate wide. They will be responsible for partnering with finance to provide financial monitoring of all portfolio activities. They will report on the health of the portfolio, escalating conflicts and obstacles to senior leadership and participating/leading resolutions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishes a broad network across Corning businesses and functions that enables a thorough understanding the business strategies, operating objectives, business capabilities, product & financial strategies and technology imperatives, aligning digital portfolio to enhance value and business outcomes
  • Model complex, future scenarios of digital investment and value capture based on changing dynamics
  • Critically evaluate the overall portfolio value, time to value and risk for the Digital portfolio
  • Work closely with the analytics function to define clear success metrics, KPIs, measure results and business outcomes, shift investments to maximize ROI and be prepared to report out on the health of the portfolio
  • Ensure the oversight and coordination of dependencies across the projects and programs in the digital portfolio and resolve or escalate conflicts.
  • Extensive collaboration with other IT Delivery Teams to ensure high performance of the digital portfolio
  • Lead the development and maintenance of communications and reporting around the digital portfolio.
  • Lead the creation and maintenance of the required project portfolio processes, documentation and artifacts and all necessary training to support excellent execution.
  • Manage the intake, demand shaping, and prioritization process as well as defining the process to evaluate the roadmap from a demand vs. capacity assuring clear alignment to strategic intents and overall enterprise goals.
  • Track & report on KPIs and Value delivery of the portfolio.
  • Provide ET leadership with regular updates on the health of the portfolio. Implement, manage, and continuously improve portfolio processes leveraging best practices and external resources as needed.
  • Challenge the status quo to provoke new thinking through the application of digital and data technologies and capabilities.
  • Work collaboratively IT PMO for awareness and planning. Highlight collaboration opportunities with the IT teams to address all points of integration and consider costs / resources in alignment with all project schedules.
  • Establish and manage the PMO governance tools collaborating with the IT PMO
  • Keep ET senior leadership apprised of portfolio status, issues, and concerns.

Essential Functions: Portfolio Management – Define, analyze, and deliver business initiatives in accordance with business and IT/ET priorities and annual budgets. Business-IT Strategy – Promote and support the long-range IT digital systems plan consistent with business objectives. Support and facilitate the alignment of corporate IT strategy to business strategies.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of diverse roles and increasing leadership responsibilities across major projects and programs. Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, Master's a plus.
  • Experience as a leader of PPM or PMO that included agile projects are all or part of the portfolio.
  • Experience with the management of a portfolio including tracking of value outcomes, backlog maintenance and agile PMO metrics.
  • Experience with Digital Transformation and customer experience improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing "upward" among senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with diverse teams and across a matrixed organization.
  • Strong experience with budgets, financial tracking, demand vs capacity analysis, and cost/value optimization a must
  • Strong sense of urgency in delivering results.
  • Ability to work in a virtual team which may work across distance, cultures, and time zones, in a matrix with multiple reporting lines, and may extend outside the K-C organization including suppliers, partners, and customers.

 

Technical Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years digital technology experience in each of the following areas:

  • Working with an Application software design team leading projects
  • Expert level proficiency with agile toolsets such as Jira and Trello
  • Expert level proficiency with agile work practices in settings involving multiple development teams, cross-functional team members and both local and remote participants with diverse backgrounds and experience

 

Other Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate a passion for working as a champion of the corporate wide digital portfolio
  • Demonstrated curiosity and an ability to learn, unlearn and relearn skills on an ongoing, sustained basis
  • Ability lead in an agile product team environment and balance a diverse set of stakeholder requests
  • Strong technical collaboration and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with other teams across the company, defining portfolio attributes, sharing experiences and lessons learned for continual improvement
  • Process-oriented with knowledge of documentation requirements
