The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Scope of the Position

The IT Manager, PLM role will be responsible for leading the strategy, design, implementation, and support of Teamcenter solutions for Corning globally. 

The qualified candidate will work as a partner with our internal and external technical experts to ensure we create standardized supportable solutions.  To be successful the candidate needs a solid background in manufacturing and engineering design practices plus the ability to translate the needs of the business to IT requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer/Business engagement to gain deep understanding of needs and requirements as well as how we can support the Manufacturing Strategies with PLM capabilities. 
  • Use knowledge of how PLM drives value to articulate that to businesses and extend the usage of PLM capabilities where it adds value for Corning
  • Develop and execute PLM roadmaps for each division that align with their strategies including integration to ERP, CAD, MES and other critical systems
  • Work closely with external technical partners, Engineering USA
  • Manage the portfolio of PLM projects and resources and follow Corning standard project management practices
  • Ensure that we stay current with Teamcenter, Solidworks and related software to ensure that we protect Corning’s data security
  • Support the Manufacturing 4.0 vision in the Product Line Management workspace
  • Partner with IT and manufacturing business units to develop business cases and manage expectations around service, cost, risk, delivery and lifecycle requirements
  • Develop and manage budgets, direct bill reporting, schedules, and performance standards.
  • Promote professional growth and development of the team and create a safe, positive work environment that fosters innovation and collaboration.
  • Maintain internal customer communication, assuring timely status updates and issue resolution
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned
  • Maintain status of SME on specific area of knowledge by researching and keeping current with new and anticipated technology within their area and related areas of expertise
  • Assist in the data migration from legacy systems to new solutions
  • Provide support and troubleshooting of IT systems and data interfaces
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned
  • Up to 20% travel domestic and international

Experiences/Education - Required

  • 7-10 years of Engineering and/or Manufacturing leadership role in a global manufacturing environment
  • Strong leadership and project management skills
  • Strong communication skills to effectively articulate analytics vision and objectives at all levels.
  • Demonstrates strong Engineering domain knowledge and how technology solutions can improve or enhance existing processes and overall business results
  • Creates strong business partner relationships
  • Technical curiosity, aptitude, and expertise in IT technologies
  • Creative, innovative, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to supervise and motivate people to enhance their ability to make contributions
  • Managing and measuring work, able to clearly define work and manage global team delivery
  • Effective in managing time and multiple priorities
  • Must have a passion for success.
  • Must demonstrate a proven willingness to go the extra mile, to take on the things that need to be done and maintain a positive attitude that can adapt to change.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Bachelor degree in IT, Engineering or related field
  • Team Center configuration
  • Solidworks or other CAD experience
  • Experience with workflow processes (Engineering Change Management, Audit Management.)
  • Development of strategy and long-term directions
  • Certification / experience in Operational Excellence / Six Sigma highly desired
  • Ability to work without close supervision
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team
  • Ability to work closely with internal customers around the world to meet customer requirements
  • Ability to work individually and on teams to execute projects on time, on budget, and with expected results

The range for this position is $146,665.00 - $201,665.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
