The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

 

 

Scope of Position: In collaboration with the IT Director of Global Vendor Management and regional IT Manager, Vendor Management to provide enterprise wide sourcing strategy and vendor management for IT. Responsible for providing vision for the procurement of professional services, software, telecom and staff augmentation used globally. Providing thought leadership allowing for long term success and industry-leading results.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Overall responsible for the Governance and Vendor Management of Software Globally for the designated vertical
  • Lead the development of strategy and road-maps for the global team allowing for successful and value add engagement of providers in the Telecom/Hardware space
  • Lead the establishment of risk mitigation strategy related to deeply integrated third party suppliers
  • Build and foster global relationships allowing for integration of best in class policies for the acquisition of third party goods and services
  • Build, train and develop a world class team
  • Directional leadership for strategy reducing the dependency on individual suppliers allowing for year over year cost reduction by increasing value
  • Development and adherence to governance aligned with corporate strategy and financial challenges
  • Build tight alignment with Corporate Sourcing function (GSM) and work to integrate the work streams of the two entities as well as other key stakeholders.
  • Reports directly to the Director Vendor Management

 

Education Requirements: Bachelors degree in a relevant field preferred; MBA or MIS preferred

 

Work Experience: 15 years of IT experience in multiple disciplines such as application development, project management, infrastructure management, sourcing, consulting, and contract management. 5-7 years of experience in IT management leading work teams, managing budget and development processes. 10 plus years in Vendor Management/Strategic Sourcing. This position will be responsible for assisting in the development of a global process and leading a global team through coaching, mentoring and directing day to day work.

  • Strong business acumen to drive sound strategies and work cross functionally to develop and drive strategy in the procurement of goods and services
  • Strong verbal and written communications and the ability to interact and present to senior management teams
  • Experience leading decentralized cross functional teams
  • Leads and directs the work of others with a wide degree of creativity and latitude
  • Successful experience leading vendor consolidation resulting in fewer vendors while improving both pricing and delivery of the related goods and service

  • Completed Project Management Professional examination and designation

 

Travel: 30% domestic and international travel
