Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Job Purpose

The Marketing Operations and Sales Development Intern will be provided hands-on experience that will give them the opportunity to learn about several aspects of how Commercial & Marketing teams’ function. They will work closely with Marketing Operations, Sales Development, and Regional Marketing to execute, measure, and optimize the performance of marketing campaigns. Along with the Marketing Operations team they will learn the tools, systems, and processes needed to execute and measure campaigns and will help gather & analyze data to deliver actionable insights. They will also work closely with the Sales Development Team to learn the process for qualifying and converting marketing-generated leads into sales meetings and will be assigned a Marketing Campaign where they will follow-up with Marketing Qualified Leads and try to convert them into a meeting with a field salesperson. The ideal candidate will be an independent self-starter who wants to learn about the execution of marketing campaigns and the sales development process.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with regional marketing and digital marketing teams to measure campaigns across multiple channels.
  • Gather and present campaign results to digital marketing and regional marketing teams.
  • Provide information around best practices for each channel based on the analysis of the data.
  • For a target campaign, follow a prescribed number of phone, email, social, and voicemail touch points to generate meetings for sales.
  • Support process optimization efforts as needed across the department.
  • Participate in activities/events which will help build a strong network within Corning and gain knowledge of the Telecommunications Industry.
  • Present an end of summer presentation to the Marketing Leadership Team and the extended Marketing Organization to review projects executed.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  •  Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or related field
  • Strong verbal/written skills and excellent interpersonal and phone skills to communicate effectively with external and internal customers.
  • Proven analytical, organizations, and process skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Office Tools.
  • Flexibility facing new challenges, opportunities, process & technologies
  • Experience with digital platforms such as a Social Media Management Platform, Marketing Automation Platform & a Content Management Platform is a plus.
  • Fluent in German, Spanish, or French is a plus.

The range for this position is $1,519-$3,074 biweekly.  Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
