Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Scope of Position:
An internal communications specialist is responsible for developing and implementing effective communications to enhance Corning’s communications efforts. They play a critical role in shaping Corning Optical Communications’ (COC) narrative, ensuring consistency, and fostering positive relationships with various stakeholders. This position’s primary role is to work with Corning Optical Communications’ Technology Office and the Corning Optical Rotational Engineering (CORE) groups as part of COC’s communications team. The specialist will ensure that all communications are accurate, clear, and engaging to support the groups’ objectives. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; communications, journalism, public relations, or relevant fields preferred.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in internal communications, public relations, or related fields.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining consistent and accurate messaging

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective communications to support Corning Optical Communications’ Technology Office and the Corning Optical Rotational Engineering (CORE) program. 
  • Write, edit, and distribute engaging and informative content, including newsletters, emails, intranet articles (SharePoint), presentations, and speeches.
  • Organize and coordinate internal events such as townhalls, leadership forums, and employee recognition events.
  • Work as part of Optical Communications’ internal communications team to ensure a cohesive communications approach on messaging and overall business strategy.

The range for this position is $61,320.00 - $84,315.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
