The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

 

Overview/Scope of Position:

 

The Manager, Logistics Operational Excellence is responsible for driving efficiency, improving operational processes, and enhancing performance within the logistics function of the organization. This role focuses on identifying opportunities for optimization, implementing best practices, and ensuring the seamless operation of supply chain and logistics activities aligned with business objectives. The Manager will collaborate across departments and lead initiatives that improve service quality, reduce costs, and optimize resources.

 

Purpose and Major Responsibilities of Position:

 

  1. Process Improvement and Optimization:
    • Analyze existing logistics processes to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
    • Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and distribution processes.
    • Standardize procedures to ensure consistency and scalability across operations.
  2. Performance Management:
    • Monitor & develop key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics operations, including cost, delivery times, and service quality.
    • Lead data-driven decision-making to improve operational performance and achieve business goals.
  3. Collaboration and Cross-Functional Coordination:
    • Partner with cross-functional teams, including procurement, production, and customer service, to align logistics strategies with broader business objectives.
    • Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external logistics service providers.
  4. Document & Implement Best Practices:
    • Document global best practices in accordance with Corning’s Logistics Taxonomy
    • Evaluate and implement new tools, software, and methodologies to improve operational efficiency and reduce costs.
  5. Leadership and Team Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of logistics professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
  6. Project Management:
    • Lead and manage logistics-related projects, including process redesign initiatives, technology implementations, and cost-saving programs.
    • Conduct post-implementation reviews to measure the success and sustainability of changes.

 

 

 

Minimum Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

 

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in supply chain, logistics, warehousing, optimization or related field.  
  • In-depth knowledge of onsite logistics & manufacturing
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and analyze complex data.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

The range for this position is $111,873.00 - $153,826.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
