The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success. It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation. Overview:
The Manager, Logistics Optimization will drive the optimization of Corning’s logistics, distribution, & transportation activities, with primary focus on improving efficiency and effectiveness within a warehouse environment. This role involves streamlining operation flows, optimizing utilization, managing inventory, and reducing costs. This person will be responsible for driving process improvement & cost optimization across Corning businesses while standardizing to Corning best practices. This position requires excellent leadership and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead strategic change in a cross-functional environment. A self-motivated and driven individual who has the ability to work with ambiguity and deliver results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Warehouse and Transportation Optimization: Lead efforts to optimize Corning’s warehouse footprint, transportation flows and processes.
- Operational Cost Efficiency: Identify opportunities to reduce cost-to-serve through process improvements/optimization.
- Logistics Initiatives: Proactively lead logistics initiatives and projects in areas of expertise (i.e. analysis, identification, and implementation)
- Performance Goals: Deliver savings, productivity enhancement and performance levels that ensure warehousing and transportation improvement objectives are met.
- Operational Excellence: Identify and assist in driving logistics operational excellence to improve work processes, layout design, and tools; refining performance and business continuity.
- Metrics & KPI’s: Develop metrics & key performance indicators to measure warehouse space utilization, labor efficiency, cost optimization and transportation performance.
- Network Optimization: Support the optimization of logistical networks in the region while partnering with the businesses.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ensure the cross collaboration between key functions, internal and external customers and suppliers.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in industrial engineering, supply chain, engineering or relevant field
- Minimum of 5 years' work experience involved in operational improvements in a manufacturing or warehousing environment
- Proficiency in Excel, SAP, ERP systems and/or other relevant rools.
- Project management experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Preferred:
- Masters in Business Administration
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
- Work experience in a cross functional global business environment
Travel and Location:
- Willing to travel up to 25% (Domestic/International)
- This position can be based in Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY.

The range for this position is $80,262.00 - $110,360.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
