The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success.  It delivers the training, tools and opportunities needed to create innovative solutions for the function & the corporation.  GSM has leading edge, effective processes to anticipate and exceed customer requirements.

 

Exciting Opportunity:
Join Corning as a Manager in Strategic Sourcing, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping our global outsourcing strategy and driving significant cost savings. In this dynamic position, you'll lead efforts to discover and develop external manufacturing partnerships, enhancing our supply chain capabilities and contributing to revenue growth. Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Outsourcing: Create and execute strategic outsourcing objectives to meet future demand, considering economic, raw material, and currency trends. Lead discovery and management of external manufacturing metal suppliers to support Corning’s business units globally.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Drive cross-functional teams to provide leadership, supporting key projects from strategic reviews and opportunity assessments. Evaluate global manufacturing needs, identifying external manufacturing opportunities within Corning’s value chains.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Scout suppliers and manage competitive bids, quotations, negotiations, and proposals. Own the Supplier Relationship Management process for manufacturers, developing and reviewing capacities, capabilities and performance criteria.
  • Negotiations and Global Intelligence: Lead negotiations with major suppliers to optimize value. Develop and communicate global supply intelligence for assigned commodities, ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Performance Monitoring: Oversee Performance Scorecards and Service Level Agreements. Provide coaching and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of excellence.
  • Compliance and Shared Objectives: Develop, maintain, and execute Shared Objectives and Service Level Agreements. Advocate for the Global Buying Policy, ensuring compliance across operations.

 

Function/Technical Skills:

  • Management: Expertise in writing, managing, and reviewing contracts.
  • Negotiation Skills: Develop cost reduction strategies and manage cross-functional boundaries to achieve consensus and win-win solutions. Maintain objectivity and control during negotiations, taking calculated risks and thinking creatively to benefit Corning and suppliers.
  • Project Management: Lead outsourcing projects and manage make vs buy decisions effectively.
  • GSM Strategies and Risk Management: Execute GSM Strategy, securing necessary resources. Map supply and distribution channels to identify risks and create contingency plans for disruptions.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or relevant field. (Master’s or engineering degree is an advantage)
  • 5+ years of experience in supply management, procurement, or related fields.

 

Desired Skills:

 

  • Demonstrated experience in global manufacturing and business environments.
  • Proven negotiation skills with a track record of achieving favorable outcomes.
  • Experience working in matrix environments or cross-functional teams.
  • Language proficiency in two or more languages.

 

Location/Travel:

  • This position can be based in Charlotte, NC (hybrid) 
  • Up to 25% travel required (International/Domestic)

The range for this position is $98,891.00 - $135,976.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
