The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success. Role Scope
The Manager, Strategic Sourcing – Contingent Worker role has leadership and strategic responsibility within Corning's Global Supply Management (GSM) Professional Services sourcing organization. Responsible to ensure that Corning obtains the maximum value (price, quality, service) from services procured in the Professional Services space. A key owner of setting functional activities and strategies to support industry and supplier research, supplier selection processes, including the establishment of category councils, supplier performance management, negotiation, contingent workforce planning and strategy, and management of Professional Services contracts.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute global sourcing strategies for Professional Services procurement, driving value across supplier spend exceeding $100M annually. Oversee contingent workforce planning to ensure flexibility and alignment with organizational goals.
- Category Management: Lead all aspects of category management, including supplier market analysis, bid preparation, pricing and term negotiations, supplier selection, and performance management. Collaborate on contingent workforce strategies to balance cost-effectiveness and compliance.
- Vendor Management Systems (VMS): Drive implementation, optimization, and management of VMS tools to enhance visibility, compliance, and efficiency in sourcing and workforce planning. Partner with suppliers and internal teams to integrate VMS into procurement workflows.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Lead global cross-functional teams to support category management and drive alignment across business units. Provide strategic direction to address supplier challenges and enhance product and market knowledge.
- Cost Optimization: Implement programs to deliver savings and process improvements across the supply chain, including contingent workforce planning. Drive total cost solutions while ensuring quality and compliance.
-Team Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team, recruiting and developing talent, setting clear goals, and fostering accountability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with a focus on professional services sourcing in a global manufacturing or corporate environment preferred
- Proven experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrixed organizational structure.
- Experience managing large-scale sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations, and contract management.
- Contingent Workforce Strategy: Strong experience in contingent workforce planning and strategy with preference to candidates with global experience, including shaping flexible workforce solutions that meet organizational needs.
- Hands-on experience with Vendor Management Systems (VMS) to streamline procurement and workforce management processes.
- Familiarity with Professional Services sourcing and supply chain practices.
Desired Skills
- CCWP (Certified Contingent Workforce Professional) certification preferred
- Strategic thinking and analytical skills to develop long-term sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives
- Experience managing large-scale sourcing initiatives, supplier negotiations and contract management.
- Expertise in contingent workforce strategy, planning and managing supplier spend with preference to candidates with global experience, including shaping flexible workforce solutions that meet organizational needs.
- Vendor Management Systems: Hands-on experience with Vendor Management Systems (VMS) to streamline procurement and workforce management processes.

The range for this position is $96,534.00 - $132,734.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
