The Global Supply Management (GSM) Function is recognized as a critical function for business success. Scope of Position:
The Manager, Strategic Sourcing Metals is accountable for defining and leading enterprise-level category strategies across multiple divisions and sites to deliver sustainable cost, risk, and supply assurance outcomes. Reporting to the Global Strategic Sourcing Senior Leader – Metals, this role oversees sourcing strategies for selected global metal categories (e.g., Steel, Aluminum, Copper) and drives strategic and tactical sourcing outcomes. The position interfaces with senior internal stakeholders and represents sourcing in global, cross-functional forums, requiring strong influence without direct authority.
Responsibilities:
Category Strategy & Value Creation:
- Lead global category strategies for metal commodities, integrating demand forecasts, economic trends, volatility, and technology roadmaps.
- Align sourcing strategies with financial objectives, including margin improvement, cost competitiveness, and working capital optimization.
- Drive transformational cost and value opportunities across businesses with measurable results.
Market Intelligence & Commercial Leadership:
- Serve as the enterprise lead for metals market intelligence, providing insights on pricing, supply risk, capacity constraints, and geopolitical/regulatory impacts.
- Develop and communicate advanced supply intelligence (e.g., should-cost models, total cost of ownership, cost drivers, indexing methodologies).
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, converting market intelligence into actionable sourcing decisions.
Supplier Strategy & Negotiation:
- Lead complex supplier negotiations, including long-term agreements, innovative pricing models, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Manage executive-level supplier relationships to ensure performance, innovation, and portfolio resilience.
- Ensure robust contract coverage and compliance with governance standards.
Operating Model & Process Leadership:
- Transition fragmented sourcing to an integrated category management operating model across businesses and regions.
- Define and implement sourcing processes, tools, and enablers to improve transparency, speed, compliance, and decision quality.
- Mentor divisional and site procurement teams to ensure consistent execution of best practices.
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership:
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, and Technology teams to align sourcing priorities with business strategies.
- Lead cross-functional teams on complex sourcing initiatives, ensuring accountability for scope, outcomes, and execution.
- Serve as the internal metals expert, providing guidance, escalation support, and decision leadership.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 7+ years of progressive experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Supply Chain, with expertise in global category strategies.
- Proven success in metals or raw materials sourcing, delivering measurable commercial value in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Advanced negotiation and contracting expertise, including experience in volatile and indexed markets.
- Strong financial and analytical capabilities to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Executive-level communication skills to influence senior stakeholders and align cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s Degree (MBA or related field).
- Deep knowledge of global metals markets, pricing mechanisms, and supply dynamics.
- Familiarity with supplier manufacturing processes, engineering interfaces, and supply chain operations.
- Proficiency in using market data, pricing tools, and digital platforms to enhance sourcing strategies.
- Ability to lead in ambiguous situations, prioritize competing demands, and deliver results.
- Collaborative yet decisive leadership style with a balance of strategic thinking and execution focus.

The range for this position is $96,534.00 - $132,734.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
