Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
As a Market Forecasting Manager, you will partner directly with market and business unit leaders supporting Fiber and Cable, Data Center, Connectivity Solutions, and emerging technologies such as co-packaged optics (CPO). You will build and deliver complex analytical work including understanding how the market is structured, building a ground-level model, validating with macro models/signals, use these to market size, forecast demand, provide supply/demand balance outlooks, and data to support regional market assessments. Your outputs will draw on external vendor and syndicated research data, internal shipment and pacing data, customer signals, and macroeconomic and industry indicators. You will produce analyses that are credible, well-documented, and actionable at the executive level.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead rapid-turn, high-visibility analytics for executives, including market sizing, demand/supply outlooks, technology adoption scenarios, and CEO‑ready exhibits.
- Develop robust forecasting and driver models using statistical, econometric, and ML methods, selecting approaches based on horizon, data, interpretability, and performance.
- Build bottoms‑up market models (segments, regions, mixes, constraints) and integrate them with top‑down macro and internal signals.
- Establish and maintain forecasting standards, including back testing, error and bias analysis, stability checks, and scenario/uncertainty ranges.
- Create and maintain scalable market sizing frameworks with clear assumptions, definitions, documentation, and sensitivity analysis.
- Translate ambiguous business questions into clear analytical plans, validate results rigorously, and communicate insights to technical and non‑technical audiences in leadership forums.
- Contribute to team best practices, agile delivery, code reviews, and the long‑term forecasting roadmap for the BI analytics function.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, economics, operations research, computer science, engineering, or related quantitative field
- Minimum 5 years of experience applying data science/analytics to business problems such as forecasting, market analytics, strategy analytics, and/or operational analytics with experience translating business problems into analytical approaches and clear recommendations
- Experience with forecasting and model evaluation (e.g., back testing, error analysis, sensitivity/scenario analysis)
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, including building structured analyses and communicating executive-ready insights
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Proficiency in Python and SQL; ability to work effectively with large datasets and analytics workflows
- Experience using Databricks and/or Spark for large-scale data processing and analytics
- Experience working with external market/vendor datasets and managing definition changes or restatements over time
- Experience building executive-ready dashboards or analytical products in Power BI
- Familiarity with finance concepts (revenue pacing, seasonality, variance analysis) and/or market intelligence workflows

The range for this position is $122,870.00 - $168,946.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
