The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

 

SCOPE/PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Global Multi-Cloud Automation Leader, the Multi-Cloud Engineer will enable the successful delivery of complex Corning initiatives and priorities across IT Architecture, Engineering, Operations, Security, Strategic partners, Technology vendors and Project management teams.

 

The MultiCloud Engineer will be a subject matter expert for cloud technologies, with an emphasis on rapid adoption of new cloud services, engineering new Cloud services and helping drive IT transformation. Responsible for continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), design and develop software leveraging Public Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) with an Emphasis on Platform as a Service

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engineer and develop Cloud solutions and services to ensure quality, reliability and effective performance of applications and platforms.
  • Automate and maintain Multi-Cloud Platform using cloud centric technologies.
  • Deliver production code at a regular cadence using Agile techniques, tools, and methodologies.
  • Maintain and constantly evolve IaC based Infrastructure in our Public Cloud environment.
  • Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
  • Design and implement Kubernetes workload Infrastructure components and cloud-native applications.
  • Build automation services and capabilities to enhance the installation and provisioning of cloud-based applications in AWS, AZURE cloud providers and Private Cloud VMware virtualization stack.
  • Collaborate with team members to tackle complex technological, infrastructure, Network and Security software development issues.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or Associates Degree and equivalent experience.  Computer Science or a related field preferred.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • Cloud engineering experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Azure cloud platform
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and command-line interfaces
  • Experience with software version control systems, including GitLab
  • Support the application CI/CD pipeline for promoting software into higher environments through validation and operational gating, and lead DevOps automation and best practices leveraging Terraform.
  • Minimum of 7+ years related IT experience

 

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Core Technology Skills:
    • Cloud Platforms: AWS and/or Azure
  • Orchestration
    • Kubernetes: Kubernetes experience focused on DevOps. A deep understanding of CI/CD tools, processes, and a strong desire to help teams release frequently to production with a focus on creating reliable high-quality results. Good development experience with languages such as Python or Go.
    • Rancher, vRealize Orchestrator
  • Programming:
    • .Net, PowerShell, JavaScript
  • Containers: Docker
  • Integration: API (REST/SOAP)
  • DevOps/Agile: Jenkins, Git, Gitlab, Artifactory, Vault, Jira, Confluence
  • Experience in working in an Agile/Scrum-focused organization
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; comfortable with translating technical problems to non-technical audiences

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

    • Go, Java Springboot
    • Python, Shell Scripting
  • Core Technology Skills:
    • Database: MS SQL, Postgres, Oracle
    • Virtualization: VMware vCloud Suite (preferred)
    • Other: A holistic understanding of IT infrastructure inclusive of server, storage, network, DR/business recovery and continuity practices, etc.
  • Automation Skills:
    • AWS/Azure Certified
    • IaC: Terraform (HashiCorp Terraform Certification preferred)
    • IaC: CloudFormation
    • Configuration Management: Ansible, Cloud-init, Saltstack
    • ServiceNow: Automation and integration with ServiceNow and other 3rd party infrastructure platform API’s

    • Remote
    • Up to 10%, domestic and international

The range for this position is  $108,814.00   -  $149,620.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
