Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


Responsible for systems, data and processes across the OCS business with support of the OFC business. Responsible to assure effective deployment of systems to drive increased customer satisfaction, improve costs and reduced inventory. Provide direct leadership support to SAP subject matter experts (SME), Data Management Organization (DMO) and Variant Configurator (VC) organization.


Position: Global OCS Supply Chain System, Process and Data Excellence Manager

Purpose of Position

The SC Systems, Process and Data Excellence Manager is responsible for systems, data and process implementation across OCS as well as supporting systems/data for OFC. Building systems capabilities globally that will enable growth and optimize profitability across the globe. Responsibilities include leading large-scale systems enablement project and continuous adoption of new technologies.


The SC Systems, Process and Data Excellence Manager will leverage emerging digital technologies to drive SC value by enabling revenue growth, developing cost understanding, and enhancing the speed of technology adoption in our plants/processes. Collectively, these activities will improve customer experience, cost to serve and inventory efficiencies along with building capabilities to enable growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership in support in areas of data management, SC enablement and ERP support/development
  • Lead and develop digital ERP architecture strategy and roadmap across plan, source, make and deliver
  • Manage large projected related to SC process improvements related to system enablement
  • Achieve global processes for DMO and VC, leveraging synergies to further standardization in data
  • Collaborate with and build positive and productive relationships with regional teams, customers, suppliers, and other functions to create and implement new supply chain technologies
  • Act as a liaison with EBS organization
  • Assist in identifying requirements for training to advance standardization and speed
  • Develop relationships via industry associations and lead external benchmarking of best practices and emerging technologies to support E2E supply chain
  • Provide ongoing development, coaching and performance management to the team and ensure a high level of performance. Create the conditions that enable team members to succeed, learn, and enjoy their work   
  • Acts as partner throughout the supply chain organization regarding process improvements, trouble shooting and problem solving.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Organization will consist of team of 40+ associates with SAP SME’s, DMO and VC.  
  • Candidate will expand on culture of collaboration and expansion of system ownership


Performance Metrics

  • Overall success in advancing the OCS systems roadmap and supporting OFC in broader support of COC Strategy.
  • Development of short- and long-term roadmaps in support of stated supply chain strategies. Development of appropriate annual and 5-year budgets of strategic capital and expense in support of those plans. 
  • Other metrics include: Speed of Data entry, Project Management performance, Data accuracy, overall customer satisfaction in service metrics


Travel Requirements: up to 25% or as required Some international travel is required.


Required Experience and Education

  • B.S. degree is required (in Engineering, IT, Business or Supply Chain field)
  • MBA in Finance, Accounting, or Supply Chain preferred
  • 10 years of multi business/function experience in Project Management and Managerial Leadership in Supply Chain, and Operations
  • Broad supply chain experience for a $1B+ business operating in an ERP environment (SAP ECC 6.0 or R3 or APO preferred) is required; global experience is preferred
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex projects and process redesigns
  • Successfully deployed SAP enhancements in the space (all or some) of distribution, supplier management, collaboration hubs with suppliers and customers
  • Six Sigma Black Belt is preferred
  • Supply Chain expertise gained through executive program training, certification, and/or industry associations is strongly preferred
