The Sr. Manager, Information Security Data Protection is experienced with developing and deploying enterprise data classification programs, including but not limited to issuing and communicating data asset security standards, requirements for updating existing policies and define means to automate the capability. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated success driving data and content classification and protections, organization change management and tool management/implementation. This role is both highly strategic and hands-on. The selected resource must demonstrate strong communications and analytical skills, and comfortable getting up to speed quickly on technical, security related content.


Responsibilities include:

  • Provide company-wide guidance, best practices, data classification, and support to develop and promote data governance, to ensure real-time trusted and consistent data is communicated with internal and external partners.
  • Document, communicate and execute a clearly defined data classification strategy, including overarching processes, automated solution, supporting training and change management program.
  • Collaborating with others to integrate practice across standard lifecycle management practices.
  • Working with a cross-functional team, to integrate defined data protection processes across teams.
  • Develop partnerships with internal business information security leaders, legal, and corporate communications teams to bring forward capabilities in support of key initiatives related to data protection
  • Liaise with business groups and advise on data protection schemes, assessments, and project/business risks, and serve as subject matter expert for data protection.
  • Reporting implementation and status as part of the overarching Information Protection Program
  • Manage the team that maintains the data protection toolset for data loss prevention, access, governance, and classification.


Qualifications/Minimum Requirements

  • Strong ability to influence or negotiate with stakeholders dealing with competing priorities
  • Capable of anticipating needs and driving clarity on expectations
  • 10+ Years in the Information Security / Cybersecurity domain including 5+ years systems experience
  • Hands on experience working with several of the following data protection technologies:
    • Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technology
    • Data Access Governance technology
    • Data Discovery, Retention and Destruction technologies
    • Data Classification and Rights Management technology
    • Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB) technology
    • SSL Certificate and Encryption Key Lifecycle Management technology
    • Database Encryption technologies
  • Familiarity with change management and deployment processes in large IT organizations
  • Working knowledge with common IT technologies such as Windows Server, Linux/Unix, Databases, Active Directory/LDAP, virtualization, end-user devices etc.
  • General knowledge of IT / security principles such as encryption, identity, cloud, etc.
  • Professional security certification desirable
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks with competing priorities; strong influencing skills to work with various service owners
  • Excellent communication, analytical and planning skills to manage the implementation of information security controls and data classification practices
  • Experience successfully delivering programs and/or multiple projects on-time and within budget based on agreed upon scope and business goals
  • Familiar with compliance and privacy regulations, IT, security frameworks and standards (i.e. NIST 800, ISO/IEC 27002, HIPAA, PCI, SOX, HITRUST)
