Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


Scope of Position:

• Lead or participate in a wide range of strategy projects that require broad skills, global involvement and experience in manufacturing operations, organizational design, product management and strategy

• Analyze operational performance utilizing information from various internal sources, functions, and report to OCS global manufacturing leadership team

• Build complete understanding of issues, develop strategic response options, select, and recommend the best course of action, secure leadership support and drive into implementation

• Identify improvement areas for OCS operations and work with different organizations to gain a comprehensive understanding of situation and support development of improvement options

• Drive consistency of reporting and relevancy of manufacturing metrics across all regions

• Lead Special Projects – From time to time, certain special projects may arise around the planning efforts. This may include, but is not limited to planning system, dashboard reporting and participation in digital transformation strategy and development

• Help to facilitate in development of processes, systems, tools, and information that monitor current performance, anticipate future requirements, and define the path to get there

• Works with division groups such as engineering, finance, technology, development, and capital project deployment

• Collaborate with each manufacturing facility on strategic initiatives to ensure successful implementation, alignment, and seamless integration


Required Education Background:

• Bachelor’s degree – Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field


Critical Experiences,Skills and Behaviors:

• At least 5 years relevant experience in Plant Operations, Supply Chain or Product Management

• Capability to utilize strategic frameworks to formulate strategies

• Excellent written, presentation and verbal communications skills at multiple levels

• Strong understanding of OCS manufacturing operations

• Strong Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel skills

• Work independently, thoughtfully, and effectively in a dynamic working environment

• Strong analytical abilities with able to turn quantitative analysis into significant business insights

• Project management skills and experience leading complex projects

• Big picture thinking and the ability to see how decisions will ripple across the enterprise

Travel Required: • International and domestic US travel required, 15% - 25%
