The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Scope of Position:
The Service Owner, Network Analytics & Automation is responsible for overseeing the data analysis, monitoring, and automation platforms of Corning's global network to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and performance of Corning’s global network services. This role involves managing a team of data analysts and automation specialists, developing strategies for data-driven decision-making, and implementing automation solutions to streamline network operations. Additionally, the manager will play a key role in driving innovation within IT Network and automation domains, ensuring compliance with industry standards, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and increased productivity within the Global Network Services team.
This position reports to the Director – Global Network Services and will be located in Charlotte NC (preferred location - hybrid) or Corning, NY (hybrid). This role can work within commuting distance to any of our Corning facilities in the US.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a global team of data analysts, monitoring, and automation specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
- Develop and implement short, mid and long-term strategies for network monitoring and automation, aligned the department overall objectives.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive dashboards for analyzing network data to determine value, identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Design, deploy and continuously improve automation solutions to optimize network performance and team productivity, aiming to eliminate manual intervention via CLI/GUI.
- Manage and maintain network observability tools to ensure continuous and effective monitoring of network performance, usage trends and health.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive efficiencies, improve network security and reliability, and integrate data analytics and automation into network operations.
- Identify potential use-cases for Network team, other IT teams and the business using data from the network, generating value for Corning
- Ensure the accuracy, reliability and security of network automation through rigorous testing, validation processes and adherence to industry standards.
- Monitor, analyze and report on the performance of network analytics and automation initiatives.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in network data analytics and automation technologies, and the best practices incorporating relevant innovations into the network services strategies.
- Drive innovation within the Global Network Services team, encouraging the exploration and adoption of new technologies and methodologies to enhance network team productivity and efficiency.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Global Network Services team, promoting professional development, knowledge sharing and commitment to excellence.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree with equivalent combination relevant IT experience.
- 10+ years of related IT industry experience
- Network monitoring performance and analytics tools (SolarWinds, Cacti, ThousandEyes, etc.)
- Network automation tools and technologies (Ansible, Puppet, GitHub, Jira, etc) and API integrations
Required Skills
- Understanding of programming languages such as Python, JSON, and other relevant scripting languages.
- In depth knowledge of network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP) and network architecture
- Proficiency designing and implementing comprehensive global network solutions within a large and complex enterprise environment.
- Expertise in network monitoring, performance and analytics tools
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven experience in leading teams and driving global projects to successful completion.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional global teams, fostering a positive and productive team environment.
- Strong project management skills, with keen attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Must be proactive, self-sufficient, team-oriented, and capable of motivating team members to achieve their best performance.

- Potential travel of up to 30%, which may include international destinations

The range for this position is $170,715.00 - $234,734.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
