Overview

 

The Power Platform Engineer is a key member of our Citizen Development Enablement team, working closely with other engineers, architects, analysts, and SMEs to enable and administer the Power Platform for the enterprise. Your work is crucial to our global digital transformation efforts because it helps deliver actionable insight and reduce non-core work that will help teams create value more effectively. The successful candidate will be responsible to assist others as well as independently develop low-code custom applications needed by agile value delivery teams, leveraging advanced analytics, toolchain, and application development platforms to incorporate enterprise data and workflow information, interact with other enterprise systems and present this information to users that need it. Agile software engineering skills are crucial to this role, including working as part of a multi-functional agile development team, contributing to UX design, platform development, data engineering, API connections, continuous integration and continuous deployment, manual and automated testing.

 

Responsibilities

As a Power Platform Engineer, your main responsibilities will be to:

• Be a primary point person for citizen development enablement

• Promote the adoption of citizen development throughout the organization

• Participate in and support the citizen development community

• Translate loosely defined requirements into workable solutions

• Provide solution recommendations to makers and product owners

• Design, develop, test, deploy and monitor custom applications and monitor platform integrations needed to support citizen development

• Work with peers to design and leverage existing patterns and/or contribute to patterns catalog

• Debug issues across the platform at all component levels

• Participate in platform architecture and software activities

• Participate in Proof of Value solutioning and scrums

• Continually work toward further maturing our Power Platform Administration through governance, monitoring, nurturing, and promoting best practices throughout

 

Education, Experience, and Licensing:

• Degree in Computer Science, IT, IS, or equivalent area of technical study

• Certification in Power Platform and/or Microsoft Power Platform integrated technology

• A minimum of 6 years hands-on Microsoft tool experience with both on-prem and cloud offerings

• A minimum of 4 years providing cross-organization leadership and/or training

 

Technical Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience with the Power Platform applications or other Microsoft tools such as SharePoint or Access

• Minimum 5 years of experience troubleshooting technical issues

• Minimum 5 years of experience creating technical documentation

• Minimum 4 years of experience with Microsoft Office tools including PowerPoint and Excel Complex formulas or Macros

• Proficiency with agile software development tools including Jira, CI/CD, code management and technical documentation tools

• High level proficiency with agile work practices in settings involving multiple development teams, cross-functional team members and both local and remote participants with diverse backgrounds and experience

 

Other Qualifications:

• Strong presentation skills including both presentation of slides as well as hands-on demonstrations

• A can-do attitude and strive for continuous improvement

• A willingness to help others with patience and positivity

• Demonstrated curiosity and an ability to learn new skills on an ongoing, sustained basis

• Demonstrated systems perspective when analyzing problems, thinking about overall operation, failure modes and how to address these problems proactively

• A strong sense for the importance of documentation, and the importance of not having to learn things twice

• Ability to work in an agile product team environment and balance a diverse set of stakeholder requests

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with an ability to break down complex technical systems to help business partners understand the value

• Strong technical collaboration and communication skills as well as the ability to drive cultural change and adoption of best practices through community participation

• Ability to collaborate with other teams across the company, defining technology roadmaps, sharing experiences and lessons learned for continual improvement

• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

• Process-oriented with great documentation skills

 

Nice to have experience in each of the following areas:

• Application software design patterns and software architecture

• Front-end development with a variety of web frameworks using both reactive and responsive design techniques as appropriate

• Back-end development with multiple development stacks using authentication, network and storage APIs, serialization and deserialization, server-side application development using object oriented and functional programming techniques as needed and programmatic SQL for data access
