Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of the position

Provide global pricing data, tools, and analysis support of COC quoting and price setting activities. Validate price data matches across systems.  Maintain Variant Configurator (VC) pricing keys and VC pricing staging table in SAP. Assist in development and maintenance of pricing-specific tools used by PLM, Product Pricing and Deal Desk teams. Provide pricing analysis as required by Product Pricing and Deal Desk teams. Periodically serve as pricing representative supporting SAP projects.

 

Major Responsibilities

  • Load and maintain pricing information in SAP and Vendavo, including work-flow processing, Winshuttle loads and direct data processing in SAP and Vendavo
  • Support development and maintenance of pricing-specific tools managed by Pricing team used by Deal Desk, Customer Care, PLM, and Product Pricing teams; ensure time-sensitive updates, accuracy, and version control are maintained
  • Validate/certify price setting and changes initiated in Vendavo (systematically moved to SAP) to ensure accuracy for pricing used by non-Vendavo users, order entry, and others; validation includes base product prices, commercial/product pricing modifiers, surcharges, and other price records
  • Key pricing team support and representative working with Deal Desk in publication of Customer Data Files (CDF) delivered to key distribution partners in US and Europe on a quarterly basis (CDF); CDFs are used by distribution partners to load our pricing into their ERP systems
  • As required, provide pricing analytical support related to any pricing activity using Product change notification (PCN)(e.g. proposed price changes), supporting pricing, Deal Desk, and PLM teams
  • Execute quarterly review of VC pricing staging table and complete required maintenance to assure optimal Vendavo pricing performance and accuracy along with balancing system performance
  • Work with other data maintenance teams globally as required to support other data change/loading efforts; coordinate changes with pricing impact; audit material master data to assure data consistency from pricing perspective
  • Support SAP and other projects requiring pricing support, and occasional price procedure enhancement efforts
  • Load and maintain Intercompany pricing and other auxiliary pricing conditions globally

 

Education and Experience: Required

  • 4-year degree with at least 2 years commercial/PLM/pricing experience; ideally 1 year in position requiring extensive systems/tools/data analysis.
  • Strong data analysis/mining skills with large volumes of data and the ability to identify trends/patterns of short and longer-term periods.
  • Strong understanding of SAP and pricing systems like Vendavo or Pros with capability to learn new tools; mastery of Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, goal seek, and other functions used in building pricing tools; thorough working knowledge of other Microsoft tools (e.g. SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross functional teams and across multiple time zones and with people of different cultural backgrounds.

 

Education and Experience: Desired

  • Knowledge of general pricing concepts.
  • Understanding of COC pricing and COC business process.
  • Attention to detail with large volumes of data with ability to identify issues and validate accuracy to prevent incorrect pricing data (errors may directly impact customer pricing, order processing, and COC profitability).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written and spoken English and with graphical displays of information.

 

Travel Requirements

  • Minimal travel (<10%)
  • Overseas travel possible

 

Hours of Work / Work Schedule

  • 40 hours+ M-F
  • Schedule flexibility to accommodate periodic / quarterly work on weekends and/or late nights when data loads must be conducted during business down time to avoid time of heavy business volume.

The range for this position is $75,902.00 - $104,366.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
