Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
The Product Line Associate should have a deep understanding of the product portfolio, the competitive environment, and the products’ value proposition(s), reporting to the Product Line Manager. The PLA assists in executing the overall product line strategy including market pricing alignment and overall product line quality.
Key Responsibilities
Customer and Market Understanding
- Work with customers and commercial teams to understand product applications and identify additional revenue opportunities
- Understand customers and markets which the product line supports, include value provided
- Support competitive analysis and competitive product positioning evaluation
Strategic Planning
- Support the execution of some elements aligned with the product line strategy to maximize profitability and achieve growth
- Work with the Product Line Manager (PLM) and Product Team members to understand product life-cycle management strategy
Manage the Product Portfolio
- Align product line pricing to the strategic direction and value proposition across all customers (day-to-day, project, contract)
- Conduct periodic review and initiate updates to product collateral, including literature, specification sheets, videos, and standard recommended procedures and installation instructions with guidance from the Product Line Specialist
- Develop and deploy promotions with Sales and Marketing
- Support internal and external commercial training as a product line expert with support from PL leadership or commercial teams.
- Assists internal teams in addressing product, quality, and service issues to a quick resolution for the customer, balancing the needs of Corning and the customer
- Supports the Product Line forecasting activities with guidance from the Product Line Specialist
- Participate in support of the supply chain team helping resolve supply disruption issues
- Identify and direct the execution of Product Change Notifications
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree – Business, Engineering, Data Analytics, Math or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of work experience relative to degree
- Fundamental knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, PPT, Word, etc.)
- Capable of working efficiently in a high-speed environment (being proactive, working autonomously, solving problems, and managing multiple tasks)
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain effective relationships with co-workers
- Commercial / customer facing acumen mapping product line value proposition to customer requirements (experience leading customer voice of customer engagements is preferred)

The range for this position is $81,107.00 - $111,523.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
