Purpose of Position
To lead large-scale Engineer, Furnish, and Install (EF&I) services for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) programs for Corning Optical Communications’ (COC) Engineering Services (ES) department. Responsibilities include planning, scheduling, coordinating, reporting, execution, invoicing, and program close-out of comprehensive multi-million dollar programs for strategic COC Carrier Networks customers. The position will lead a team of project managers, engineers, technicians, and administrative support personnel.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Lead a Project Services (PS) FTTH program team of cross-functional representatives.
• Manage all aspects of assigned programs.
• Coach and support assigned project managers
• Forecast and ensure the labor pool for each activity will meet the required production rates.
• Present resource justifications to ES leadership.
• Recruit and integrate talent to ensure all approved positions are staffed.
• Establish and report program metrics and service level agreements and track for performance.
• Present program status on a regular basis to senior management.
• Coordinate closely with ES Business Operations to qualify subcontractors and implement an evaluation process to track the performance of these vendors.
• Take action as necessary to address sub-standard performance.
• Understand targeted margins for the various service components of the program.
• Coordinate with ES Business Operations to track costs and margins, and continually look for ways to lower program costs.
• Work closely with the COC Sales organization to develop solution strategies (including product, design, and pricing) to capture increasing material revenue.
• Coordinate with other managers to ensure that all support-related activities are executed smoothly.
• Help ES & PS leadership develop a coordinated approach to PS overbuild activities across the country (design and construction)
• Identify new services opportunities for COC that will also bring additional value to the customer.
• Package and present to ES and Sales.
Experience Requirements
• Minimum 15 years project management experience in the optical telecommunications sector
• Significant experience with telecom network construction methods and equipment
• Knowledge of optical fiber theory, telecommunications product knowledge, and fiber network design
• In-depth knowledge of COC products
Desired Skills
• BA Business or BS Engineering degree from an accredited college or university is desirable.
• Strong project management skills
• Ability to work across organizational lines to achieve common goals and to influence others who are not direct reports
• Ability to interface and communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively with all levels of personnel internal and external to Corning
• Proficiency with Lumen systems such as NDS, FW, and Bidmaster
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint
• Proficiency on Corning internal ERP/OSS systems
• Aptitude for financial disciplines.
Additional Requirements:
• Person must be willing to remain in this position for a minimum of two years
• Must be willing to travel (including on short notice).
Estimated travel:
• Less than 25% of total workdays per year.

The range for this position is $132,772.00-$182,561.50. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO or, if applicable, as otherwise dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
