Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Purpose of Position:

The role supports the Director, Engineering Services (ES) Carrier Networks (CN) and Program Managers for Fiber-to-the-Home programs.  Works with the entire program team to coordinate activities, meetings, reports, forecasts, and other program needs. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the project teams, program/project managers, and the scheduling office to ensure program timelines, schedules, milestones, priorities, and next steps to execute the program plan are thoroughly understood by the entire program team.
  • Ensure the various teams understand their short- and long-term deliverables and action items.
  • Drive program teams to deliver required reports on time and ensure program trackers are updated on time.
  • Create presentations on program status for internal and external use.
  • Present program status on a regular basis to both COC and the customer.
  • Establish, track, analyze, and report program performance, metrics, and service level agreements.  Apply past trends to future planning.
  • Coordinate with the department’s Business Operations group to ensure activities are on track to meet program timelines (hiring vendors, RFQ development, PO generation, material ordering, invoicing, etc).
  • Collaborate with Business Operations team to ensure all relevant program data is being captured and used for forecasting, financials, and scheduling.
  • Provide ES leadership with advice to enhance overall team efficiency.
  • Ensure business processes exist for all major program activities.  If not, facilitate with the respective groups to document the processes and ensure they are implemented.
  • Identify areas of improvement, including speed of the program and lowering costs, and make actionable recommendations to ES leadership.
  • Special projects may be assigned as needed for the program or the department.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or a technical field
  • Previous leadership experience (junior military officer experience desired)
  • Project Management experience (PMP a plus)
  • Ability to align and influence teams to deliver results
  • Ability to simplify complex situations and to deal with ambiguity
  • Strong skills in data analysis 
  • Detail-oriented
  • Skilled in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word and Excel)
  • Strong communications (particularly upward to customer executives) and interpersonal skills
  • Assertive, result-oriented and responsive; utilizes network, SMEs and other available resources to facilitate driving tasks to closure
  • Ability to maintain composure and professional demeanor at all times
  • Occasional travel to customer locations (<15%)

The range for this position is $79,584.00 - $109,428.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
