The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.
IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Position Overview:
We are executing a major program to consolidate Corning’s current ERP application environments onto a shared SAP platform which will enable the delivery of enhanced functional capabilities, business efficiencies, increased agility, and a lower ERP cost structure for the company.
A major aspect of this transformation is the underlying SAP technology as we migrate from a significant legacy ECC 6 and PeopleSoft landscape to a new S/4Hana landscape through a series of greenfield and brownfield deployment projects.
Throughout the course of this transformation, we must continue to provide reliable production operations on our legacy ECC 6 platform while also building and growing the new S/4Hana platform, and supporting the needs of multiple, concurrent implementations globally.
We are seeking an experienced and innovative engineer to work on building our shared SAP platform, including collection of tools, services, processes, and data for use by IT engineers, developers, and technical teams across the organization, encompassing the shared SAP platform infrastructure, applications, integrations, and strategic objectives.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the IT Manager, this person will be responsible for implementing best practices for design and implementation of SAP technical solutions
- Monitor and optimize performance of systems
- Automate the application deployment process
- Maintain and update platform infrastructure and applications
- Provide support for troubleshooting and debugging efforts
- Staying abreast of industry trends and leading practices
- This position will support the Hybrid SAP on-prem and cloud landscape of S/4 HANA, MDG, CFIN, SLT, BI, ECC, GTS, HCM, SRM, SCM, BW Add-on and Bolt-on products
- This person with proactively work with other groups in the organization such as Security, Development and PMO to help plan for system outages, maintenance, upgrades, and other lifecycle management activities
- Cross-team collaboration with the developers, analyst and architects to architect and develop the best technical design
- Work to conceptualize and propose solution approaches based on the SAP latest technology
- Plan, design, develop, implement, and support IT products and applications to meet the customer and IT needs
- Facilitate design walkthroughs with IT and business representatives to validate solutions against business requirements and IT architecture
- Provide an escalation point for solution analysts to deliver business solutions that include technology implementations and/or adaptations
- Generate ideas and develop new approaches to improve overall system design and/or streamline delivery of product/system
- Keep abreast of latest trends in technology, industry, and corresponding business domain Cross-team collaboration with the application manager to contribute to the strategic road map Validation of functional and technical requirements and designs and applicability to the extensibility framework and the Business Technology Platform
- Technical understanding of emerging cloud technologies and platforms, including AWS, SAP BTP, Cloud ALM, LAMA Cloud and other SAP cloud services
- Providing guidance and thought leadership around work estimating and planning for development
- Lead small workgroups and report out on appropriate Key Performance Indicators
Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree in IT, engineering or business, with related business discipline experience
- Prior experience working on medium and complex development projects
- Prior experience in technology and working in team settings, leading, contributing and participating in team activities, and building consensus around complex topics with multiple stakeholders
- Experience delivering new capabilities on time in a significant, multi-stream ERP implementation program
Skills Required:
- Strong SAP Technical knowledge in ABAP, Fiori/UI5, Integration and Reporting
- Must be familiar with latest SAP developments around Fiori, In-app extensibility, CDS and HANA related developments
- Must have worked on SAP S4HANA and SAP S4HANA upgrades
- Should have knowledge of SAP BTP services, platform application development, SAP Analytics Cloud, etc. Ability to make decisions at the project team level and properly escalate those decisions that cannot be resolved on a timely basis

- Teaching, educating, coaching, and mentoring team members across different groups and disciplines to reinforce a mentality of continuous process improvement

The range for this position is $87,916.00 - $120,885.00. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
