The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

Role Purpose

Overview: Corning’s global IT team aligns IT and business strategy, maximizes IT investments, and streamlines end‑to‑end processes. We deliver applications, infrastructure, and project services worldwide to improve business competitiveness.

Scope:  We are consolidating Corning’s ERP environments onto a shared SAP S/4HANA platform to increase capabilities, efficiency, agility, and reduce cost. This includes migrating from ECC 6 and PeopleSoft via greenfield and brownfield projects, maintaining stable ECC operations while building and scaling S/4HANA, and supporting multiple global implementations.

Role: Seeking an experienced engineer to build and evolve our shared SAP platform - tools, services, processes, and data - spanning infrastructure, applications, integrations, and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate across SAP Platform Services, Solution Architecture, Basis, DBAs, Cloud/Infrastructure, Operations/Delivery, Data Office, and Service Line leaders.
  • Implement SAP technical best practices; monitor and optimize performance; automate deployments; maintain and update platform components; troubleshoot issues; stay current on industry trends.
  • Support a hybrid on‑prem/cloud landscape across S/4HANA and related systems (MDG, CFIN, SLT, BI, ECC, GTS, HCM, SRM, SCM, BW), add‑ons/bolt‑ons, BTP, OpenText, Vertex.
  • Partner with Security, Development, and PMO on outages, maintenance, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
  • Drive cross‑team architecture and design; plan/design/build/support IT products; run design walkthroughs; serve as an escalation point; improve system design and delivery; contribute to the strategic roadmap; validate requirements against extensibility frameworks and SAP BTP.
  • Understand emerging cloud tech (AWS, SAP BTP, Cloud ALM, and SAP cloud services); guide estimation and planning; lead small workgroups and report KPIs.

 

Travel Remote Eligible: 15–20%.

 

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, standard business hours. Some early/evening meetings and periodic weekend work for time zones and maintenance windows. Remote work acceptable.

Experiences/Education - Required

  • BS in IT, engineering, or business.
  • 10+ years leading complex ERP/SAP development projects with on‑time delivery.
  • Deep SAP technical skills (ABAP, Fiori/UI5, integration, reporting) with hands‑on S/4HANA, including upgrades.
  • Experience with modern SAP technologies: BTP, HANA/CDS, Fiori, in‑app extensibility, SAP Analytics Cloud.
  • Strong decision‑making and collaboration; able to escalate appropriately.

The range for this position is $123,662.00 - $170,036.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
