Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
This Senior Analyst role reports to the Commercial Controller CN/EN/OEM within the OCS Business Unit of Optical Communications and serves as a proactive finance partner to both domestic and EMEA commercial and strategy leadership. The role supports operating expense (OPEX) management, sales incentive plan (SIP) analytics, and broader commercial finance activities, providing insights that drive disciplined decision making and profitable growth.
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, intellectual curiosity about markets, and proven experience partnering with commercial teams. This role also contributes to financial modeling, analytics, and process improvement initiatives across commercial Finance, while ensuring compliance with Corning Optical Communications and Corning Incorporated policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with commercial leadership to support OPEX planning, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Support Sales Incentive Plan (SIP) analysis, tracking, and reporting to ensure alignment with financial targets and commercial strategy
- Develop and enhance financial models and analytics to support commercial planning, performance management, and decision-making
- Deliver actionable insights across regions, markets, and products, translating financial data into clear business implications
- Prepare and present financial analyses, dashboards, and presentations to commercial leadership and finance stakeholders
- Act as a key analytical liaison between the commercial organization and business intelligence teams, helping integrate financial and market analytics
- Support annual operating plan (AOP), forecast cycles, and ad hoc commercial analyses as needed
- Drive continuous improvement in commercial finance processes, reporting, and tools
- Assist in maintaining a strong internal control environment, including compliance with GAAP, Corning accounting policies, and SOX requirements
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in FP&A, commercial finance, or financial analysis
- Strong experience with OPEX management, forecasting, and analytical modeling
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial systems, planning tools, or BI platforms a plus
- Strong communication skills with the ability to influence non-finance stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while partnering across functions
- Critical thinker, inquisitive, persistent, and rigorous
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects and customers at the highest service-level
- Flexibility, ability to pivot quickly from one task to another
- Demonstrated ability to process large amounts of data into simple, easily understood talking points
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities

- Strong presentation skills, including small group, cross-functional/team and executive interactions
- Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint; strength in ERP (SAP, PeopleSoft, other), statistical analysis, forecast modeling/tools and Khalix or other planning tools a plus
Experiences - Desired
- Statistical analysis, data mining and other analytical tools, including Python, R, SQL
- Experience as sales-facing finance support
- Proficiency in SAP, PeopleSoft, and Khalix
- Performance Excellence experience (Six Sigma, lean processes)

The range for this position is $80,308.00 - $110,424.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
