The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to lead our IT UX team. The successful candidate will manage the User Experience (UX) team, including researchers and user experience team members. This role is pivotal in enhancing the IT employee experience and driving the successful adoption of digital initiatives. The selected candidate will be expected to closely collaborate with Corning GPT team, the Collaboration team, and other teams that have UX facing tools such as TechOps to ensure a seamless and unified user experience across all platforms and interfaces. This team is also responsible for gathering and analyzing the Voice of the Customer (VOC) to provide actionable insights to our product teams. Additionally, the team manages our annual survey to provide Net Promoter Score (NPS) data and measure ongoing user sentiment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team comprising UX researchers and UX designers
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages continuous improvement, creativity, and professional growth.
- Set clear objectives, performance expectations, and provide regular feedback to team members.
- User Experience (UX) Management:
- Lead and manage the UX Design and Research teams, ensuring alignment with the strategic goals of the IT Employee Experience and Digital & IT.
- Oversee the Research team in the collection and analysis of VOC data to provide actionable insights for product teams.
- Oversee the Research team in managing the annual survey to provide NPS data and other measures of ongoing user sentiment.
- Lead the UX Design team in working with product teams to provide ongoing recommendations for product improvements.
- Partner with product teams to support UX Design team metrics
- Ensure usability testing and/or usability pilots are conducted for releases impacting users.
- Advocate for and sponsor the Employee Experience Platform project, ensuring the design and development of a user-centric, engaging, and secure platform.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the platform meets the needs of all Corning colleagues.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure buy-in and support for UX initiatives.
- Drive the UX design and research strategy, ensuring it aligns with Corning’s values, mission, and leadership.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices to continuously improve the UX design and research processes and outcomes.
- Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities for the UX Design and Research team.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality UX design and research work that meets project timelines and budget constraints.
- Employee Experience Platform
- Project sponsor for the Employee Experience Platform project. This initiative will create an appealing, user-centric platform that fosters a supportive, transparent, and collaborative environment for all Corning colleagues. The platform will be a one-stop location for employees to efficiently connect with tools, content, and colleagues, aligning with Corning’s values, mission, and leadership. This is an opportunity to influence the design, the content and work with business partners on how this portal will be enhanced over time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, User Design, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT, user experience, learning and development, or communications, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and driving successful digital initiatives.
- Strong understanding of UX principles, employee engagement strategies, and effective communication practices.
- Excellent project/product management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
Desired:
- Proficiency in software including Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or InVision and understanding of user interface design, user experience principles and usability testing.
- Holds a UX design certification, such as User Experience Certification (UXC), Certified User Experience Analyst (CXA), or Certified Usability Analyst (CUA), etc.

The range for this position is $186,553.00 - $256,511.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
