Scope of the Position
At Corning, the enterprise systems that run our businesses should be designed with the same care, clarity, and craft as our products. That’s what this role is about.
We’re looking for a Senior User Experience Designer to lead the design of enterprise platforms, including workflow systems, operational dashboards, analytics environments, and the internal tools that thousands of people rely on every day. Your work will shape how the business operates. Every interaction you design has a direct line to operational efficiency, labor spend, risk posture, and adoption at scale.
You will collaborate with UX, Product, Engineering, Business and various Support teams to set strategic direction, elevate the designers around you, and do the work yourself. You define the target state. You deliver the experience. Design is the job.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enterprise Workflows That Move the Business: You’ll lead end-to-end user experience (UX) design across various platforms and tools that drive daily operations. Your role involves unifying fragmented legacy experiences into governed, scalable systems and transforming manual processes into enduring digital workflows. A significant portion of this work begins with ambiguity. Your task is to translate this ambiguity into clear, actionable interaction models.
- Systems-Level Thinking, Interface-Level Craft: You’ll model multi-step processes across roles, permissions, data states, and edge cases. You’ll design high-density dashboards and data environments built for expert users who need clarity at speed. You’ll define scalable interaction patterns that reduce cognitive load across products and teams and contribute to an enterprise design system grounded in real usage. You should be as comfortable mapping a service architecture as you are refining a final interaction.
- Measurable Operational Impact: You’ll make people more productive through intentional workflow design. You’ll reduce friction, error rates, and manual intervention across operational systems. You’ll drive system adoption by designing experiences that respect how people work. And you’ll create cost efficiency and scalability through design decisions that leadership can measure.
- Cross-Organizational Partnership: You will partner across the organization (Product, Engineering, Operations, Law, Compliance, Data Science, etc.) in a large, matrixed environment. You’ll facilitate workshops, design reviews, and working sessions that drive alignment and unblock decisions. You’ll influence senior stakeholders with evidence, prototypes, and business rationale, and you’ll mentor junior designers, raising the standard of craft across the UX organization.
- AI-Enabled Experiences: Where the opportunity exists, you’ll design AI-assisted dashboards, predictive interfaces, and decision-support tools that augment human judgment. You’ll shape human-in-the-loop workflows where automation and human oversight strengthen each other, and build trust, transparency, and explainability into automated processes. You’ll partner with AI teams to bring intelligence into usable, governable form. You don’t need to build models, but you need to understand how AI reshapes the design problem.
Experiences/Education – Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- At least 6 years of experience in UX or Product Design, with substantial expertise in enterprise, SaaS, or internal systems.
- A proven track record of modernizing legacy tools, consolidating applications, or leading platform redesigns.
- Hands-on experience designing operational platforms, such as supply chain systems, financial tools, workforce management, contact centers, or enterprise analytics.
- A portfolio showcasing measurable business outcomes achieved through design.
- Systems thinking skills, enabling you to understand how workflows, data, roles, and policies interconnect across an organization.
- Deep interaction design expertise for complex, multi-role environments with layered permissions and business rules.
- Demonstrated ability to design high-density data interfaces that remain clear, scannable, and efficient.
- Proficiency in enterprise research methods, including contextual inquiry, usability testing, and live pilot validation.
- The capacity to lead effectively in large organizations where clarity of thought holds greater significance than positional authority.
- Proficiency in Figma or equivalent design and prototyping tools.
- Familiarity with APIs, platform constraints, and system architecture.
- Experience contributing to enterprise design systems.
Experiences/Education – Desired
- Experience designing AI-assisted dashboards, predictive interfaces, or decision-support tools that enhance human judgment.
- Familiarity with human-in-the-loop workflows where automation and human oversight complement each other.
- Proven ability to integrate trust, transparency, and explainability into automated processes.
- Experience collaborating with Data Science and ML Engineering teams to translate intelligence into practical, governable solutions.
- An understanding of how AI transforms the interaction design landscape, even without directly building the models.
- Exposure to AI-driven systems, automation workflows, or data platform design.
