Scope of Position:

Support all tactical buying activities for organizations based out of Corning Optical Communications Charlotte Headquarters through execution & management of source-to-pay procurement processes.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for tactical procurement execution and oversight of assigned materials, equipment, and services. This role supports the network of Buy-Smart Requisitioners located at COC HQ and ensures that they are issuing requisitions in accordance with Corning’s Global Buying Policy.
  • Provide regional support for invoice issue investigation and resolution.
  • Submit requests for new vendor adds/changes/updates and ensure vendor master data integrity.
  • Protect Intellectual Property by recognizing and advising internal stakeholders when a Non-Disclosure Agreement is needed.
  • Ensure compliance and champion Corning’s Global Buying Policy.
  • Create and maintain contractual documents using the proper internal tools and systems (Supplier Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Certificates of Insurance, etc.).
  • Support Corning’s Global Supply Management (GSM) initiatives as needed through project support.

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Field or Supply Chain and min of 1 year Supply Chain or Procurement experience
  • High degree of initiative and motivation with ability to work in a matrix environment and/or cross-functional team
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Strong analytical abilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to communicate effectively throughout all levels of an organization as well as externally
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

Desired Skills:

  • Education, training or certification (CPSM,CPIM, etc.) in a supply chain function
  • Experience with SAP or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems.
  • Experience with SAP Ariba.
  • Negotiation, purchasing or commodity experience
  • Project management experience
