Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is twofold: first, to internally support COC’s legislative and regulatory affairs priorities with Government Affairs who in turn manages engagements with elected officials, government staff, trade, and professional organizations, and to manage work with COC SMEs in this area; and second, to support Chief of Staff activities including facilitation of corporate strategic processes, reporting, and management of special events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as an internal liaison between Government Affairs and COC to represent COC’s business priorities as they pertain to legislative and regulatory affairs and support GA priorities within COC, including running monthly Optical Government Affairs Committee
  • Manage COC’s Enterprise Risk Management process defining key risks and contingency plans
  • Manage key corporate processes such as monthly reporting, critical reviews, etc.
  • Assist with COC’s annual strategy process, coordinating activities and writing summaries
  • Serve as a consultant to management and, at times, an external spokesperson for the organization
  • Manage and coordinate key projects related to internal and external communications of business results
  • Analyze selected functional activities and make efficiency and quality improvements as needed

 

 Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (Business, Finance, Marketing or related field)
  • 5 - 10 years' experience
  • Manage and coordinate key projects
  • Attention to detail while considering the broad picture to establish relevance
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Develop solutions to complex problems that require the use of ingenuity and innovation
  • Work autonomously and exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively represent the organization internally and externally
  • Strategic thinking to include the ability to work toward long-range goals and objectives
  • Serve as a consultant and spokesperson on significant matters

 

Desired Qualifications

  • MBA preferred
  • 10+ years' experience
  • Knowledge of telecom market, COC products and SMEs
  • Experience working with government affairs at state, national and international levels

The range for this position is $120,167.00 - $165,230.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
