We are expanding our global capabilities, and we’re looking for a Senior Manager, Strategic Sourcing – Facilities to play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of Corning’s manufacturing environment.

 

Purpose of the Role

As a senior member of our Global Supply Management (GSM) organization, you will lead sourcing strategies for facility construction and technical services supporting Corning’s annual capital investments of $1.5–$2B. You will partner with engineering, operations, technology, and business leaders to ensure Corning delivers capital projects with the cost discipline, safety culture, technical excellence, and speed required to maintain our leadership in precision manufacturing.

 

What You Will Do

  • Lead strategic sourcing for capital projects across Corning’s global manufacturing network.
  • Manage a $200–$300M annual spend portfolio supporting facility construction, utilities, and technical services.
  • Develop, deploy, and govern the Facility Category Strategy to drive long‑term capital efficiency, supplier performance, and cost competitiveness. 
  • Establish and enforce governance mechanisms ensuring projects, engineering teams, and internal business partners adhere to approved sourcing strategies and category standards.
  • Rationalize and optimize the facilities supplier base, reducing dependency on small suppliers while strengthening high‑value strategic partnerships.
  • Drive competitive events, vendor evaluations, contract development, and negotiation strategies aligned with category roadmaps.
  • Partner closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, legal, and finance to influence project decisions from concept through commissioning.
  • Support the full capital project lifecycle by aligning sourcing strategies with scope definition, design development, procurement planning, and project execution.
  • Lead strategic supplier relationship management (SRM) to enhance capabilities, ensure safety and quality performance, and accelerate project delivery.
  • Strategic Leadership & Governance
  • Define the long‑range vision and execution roadmap for Corning’s global Facilities category, including construction, technical services, and critical facility systems.
  • Deploy category strategies across multiple business units and manufacturing sites, ensuring alignment with engineering standards, sustainability objectives, and capital efficiency goals.
  • Lead governance reviews, compliance tracking, and continuous improvement cycles to ensure sourcing strategies are effectively implemented.
  • Manage supplier segmentation and lifecycle governance to ensure the supplier list remains optimized for performance, scalability, risk management, and global growth needs.

 

Requirements

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • 20+ years of industry experience delivering complex capital or large‑scale manufacturing programs—at least a decade of which includes leading major projects from concept through commissioning.
  • A proven record of successfully managing multimillion‑dollar investments across multiple regions and cultures.
  • Deep strength in negotiation, supplier engagement, and contract management, along with the ability to interpret, influence, and challenge highly technical manufacturing and facility designs.
  • Exceptional communication skills, confident leadership presence, and strong analytical and problem‑solving instincts that help teams navigate complexity and deliver results in fast‑moving environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Firsthand experience driving greenfield or brownfield facility development, particularly within glass, ceramics, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of capital project planning and execution tools such as PDRI, MVS, and Last Planner, enabling strong alignment with Corning’s established project processes.
  • A mindset rooted in curiosity and continuous improvement—someone who naturally questions assumptions, explores new ideas, and identifies smarter ways to deliver capital work.
  • An innovative, entrepreneurial approach to problem‑solving that fuels progress and elevates project outcomes.

 

Travel

  • This role requires substantial travel—up to 50% or more—across domestic and international locations to support capital projects and supplier engagements.

The range for this position is $155,614.00 - $213,969.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
