The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.
Role Purpose
The Sr. SAP Commerce Cloud Developer will play a pivotal role within Corning’s Commercial IT team, driving the design, development, and maintenance of SAP Commerce Cloud solutions to empower our business divisions to sell online effectively. This position focuses on enhancing Corning’s digital commerce capabilities by leveraging cutting-edge technologies, ensuring seamless integrations, and optimizing performance to meet business objectives. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate across global teams, delivering impactful solutions that align with Corning’s strategic roadmap and commitment to innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Development: Configure, customize, and integrate SAP Commerce Cloud solutions to meet B2B and B2C business requirements.
- Headless Commerce Solutions: Build and maintain headless commerce applications using Spartacus (Angular-based storefront).
- Integration: Implement integrations between SAP Commerce Cloud, upstream UI applications, and downstream platforms (e.g., SAP ERP/S4HANA) using tools like MuleSoft.
- Search Optimization: Configure and optimize Apache Solr search functionality and product recommendations.
- Customization: Develop custom SmartEdit components and Backoffice configurations.
- Product Features: Translate functional requirements into product features and deliver high-quality solutions.
- Roadmap Management: Collaborate with architects and product owners to maintain the technology roadmap and evaluate Composable Commerce opportunities.
- Agile Practices: Participate in Agile ceremonies and work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for technical and process optimizations and advocate for their implementation.
- Best Practices: Ensure solutions align with cloud-native practices and security standards.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 6+ years of hands-on experience developing B2B and B2C eCommerce applications using SAP Commerce Cloud.
- Proficiency in Java 11+, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, and Spartacus storefront (Angular/TypeScript).
- Expertise in integrating SAP Commerce Cloud with upstream and downstream systems using MuleSoft, SAP Datahub, and SDI.
- Strong foundation in CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, etc.) and containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with SAP Commerce Cloud PCaaS (Public Cloud) deployment model and Apache Solr search engine optimization.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- SAP Certified Technology Associate – SAP Commerce Cloud certification.
- Experience with SAP CPQ (Configure, Price, Quote) and SAP Solution Sales Configurator.
- Knowledge of SAP BTP services and Composable Commerce architecture patterns.
- Familiarity with SmartEdit, Backoffice customization, Impex, and OCC APIs.
- Expertise in performance optimization, caching strategies, and cloud platforms like AWS and Azure.

Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY (Hybrid)
Minimal travel may be required based on project needs.

The range for this position is $92,830.00 - $127,641.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
