Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.


Industry Environment Understanding

• Using internal and external resources and research, identify indications of technological, economic, and industry trends and emerging issues.

• Track and summarize key economic metrics (econometrics) connected to our industry and specific market segments

• Propose analytic and communication tools to understand emerging issues and the implications for the company. Work across other sectors to share information and identify overlapping trends.

• Administer 3rd party reports and subscriptions including owning single POC responsibilities for the sector.

• Create new tracking and forecasting tools to inform the organization on inflationary pressures related to key raw materials, transportation, and labor wages.

• Telecom ecosystem earnings analyses: evaluate quarterly earnings releases for key customers and competitors; and provide insights on their impacts to the organization.


Understand and Interpret Regulatory Affairs

• Stay abreast of latest regulatory issues and changes affecting the telecommunications industry and the organization. Provide insights and Business Intelligence position statements and lobbying direction.


Strategic Planning and Strategy Project Management

• Support monthly, quarterly, and annual strategic planning processes

• Support creation and dissemination of internal strategy communications to Corporate Stakeholders

• Drive ad-hoc strategy projects as requested by Leadership


Educational Background

• Bachelor’s degree required– Technical, Engineering or Finance Discipline

• MBA strongly preferred
