Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

 

Purpose of Position:

 

The supply chain supervisor’s KPIs include inventory accuracy, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, on-time delivery (OTD) to internal and external customers, and ensuring data integrity within Sitetracker and SAP. This role manages end-to-end supply chain operations such as forecasting, planning, scheduling, and warehousing activities. The supervisor oversees positions responsible for material ordering, inventory control, warehousing, and shipping and receiving

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Work with customers on product line order execution, problem-solving, and follow-up
  • Collaborate with product line managers and plant personnel for order execution, problem-solving, and follow-up
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Commercial, Planning, Shipping, and external customers for quick response and problem-solving
  • Monitor and coordinate the execution of part number level schedules to meet or exceed delivery targets. Analyze exceptions to determine root causes, identify trends, and implement corrective actions
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to assess prioritization and manage key orders
  • Manage the plant and vendor materials orders process with the planner to ensure accurate and timely shipments to meet internal and external demands.
    • Drive customer priorities to the plant through SAP
    • Ensure confirmation dates are within expected lead time
    • Track actual ship date with promised date and implement corrective actions when necessary
    • Direct scheduling of product shipments from the plant to meet customer requirements
  • Analyze and implement strategies and solutions for business problems based on internal customer goals, objectives, needs, existing systems infrastructure, and input from leadership
  • Coordinate with demand management, PMs, warehouse, and order management to ensure proper allocation and priorities are followed with plant planners and PLM
  • Participate in forecasting in Sales and Operations Planning
  • Review the production plan impact of forecast and communicate necessary information concerning manufacturing capacity or potential service issues
  • Participate in new part number approval process for Project Services 3rd party materials
  • Manage orders around Engineer Change Notifications to ensure minimal obsolescence
  • Confirm Bidmaster (CTL specific) and customer PO match what is entered in SAP as a sales order
  • Participate in weekly/monthly forecasting meetings to offer input into dates and risk associated material constraints and OTD
  • Manage warehouse:
    • Supervise all warehouse personnel
    • Ensure accurate locations for physical and perpetual inventories (Warehouse and Bins in SAP)
    • Transact materials accurately and timely in SAP and Sitetracker
    • Ensure OTD to constructions
    • Maintain correct inventory levels to support construction teams
    • Oversee material receipt and issuing of materials to projects (all inbound and outbound)
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through process monitoring and enhancement and periodic cycle counts and physical inventories. Drive root cause analysis for any identified inventory discrepancies

 

Required Education:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or supply chain
  • 3+ years’ experience in SC Operations or Customer Service with a demonstrated track record of results
  • Ability to align and build teams to deliver results through influence. Able to get things done by influencing resources across the globe that are not direct reports and may have conflicting regional priorities
  • SAP knowledge and/or understanding of order entry, scheduling, and distribution
  • Ability to simplify complex situations and deal with ambiguity
  • Proficiency in Excel and statistical analysis
  • Familiarity with manufacturing principles, MRP, and S&OP concepts
  • Professional planning skills
  • Strong communication (particularly upward within a global organization), leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven leadership and change management skills
  • Assertive with a strong results orientation
  • Fluent in written and spoken English

 

Desired Experiences:

 

  • Bilingual - Spanish and English
  • Knowledge of the Telecommunications Industry
  • Knowledge of fiber deployment to the field

The range for this position is $101,808.00 - $139,986.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
