Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
Serve as a key liaison between Corning and its customers by ensuring timely, accurate, and strategic responses to inquiries related to Corning’s Social Responsibility and Sustainability programs. Collaborate cross-functionally to collect and analyse data, support external reporting, and identify opportunities to enhance organizational agility through digital tools, including AI.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert in Corning’s Sustainability goals, policies and performance
- Respond to customer inquiries via questionnaires, letters, and online surveys; maintain a centralized database of responses and requests.
- Lead the development and continuous improvement of the Sustainability Co-Pilot Agent to enhance automation and response quality.
- Track and analyze customer requirements to identify trends and emerging focus areas.
- Support customer collaboration initiatives related to sustainability and social responsibility.
- Serve as a supporting point of contact for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) audits at Corning Optical Communications (COC) sites, coordinating with customer CSR managers and internal site teams.
- Assist in the planning and coordination of industry audits, including the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) Validated Assessment Program (VAP).
- Contribute to external reporting efforts such as CDP and EcoVadis, in collaboration with the Stakeholder Engagement Manager.
- Support the Environmental Product Compliance and Capabilities teams with research, data analysis, and topic exploration aligned with evolving customer expectations.
Experiences/Education - Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrated passion for sustainability, social responsibility, and systems thinking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights.
- Proactive, customer-focused, and eager to learn new tools and concepts.
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Experience in external communications or customer-facing roles.
- Familiarity with sustainability, quality, environmental, or safety management systems.
- Knowledge of environmental legislation and reporting frameworks.

The range for this position is $60,410.00 - $83,065.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
