Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.



Purpose of Position: Partner with key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that address current and future talent needs within Optical Communications by establishing, deploying, and/or maintaining external talent pipelines.


Education/Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business management or related field
  • HR/Recruiting/Talent Acquisition/Talent Management Experience
  • Experience defining, measuring and managing programs is a plus


Required Skills:

  • Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
  • Interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written)
  • Time management, project management, decision making and presentation skills
  • Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
  • Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
  • Strong customer service skills with phone and e-mail etiquette
  • Travel - ~20-30%


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leverage external partnerships to strengthen talent pipelines at different levels that align and enable diverse representation goals
  • Develop methods for evaluation of programs effectiveness and re-designs/improves accordingly
  • Develop policies and governance principles for programs and recommends modifications to operating policies
  • Designing, deployment and management of intern and fulltime leadership pipelines programs (LEAD, etc) in collaboration with program managers – which could include goals, strategy and process
  • Acts as an Advisor/Consultant for different groups within the organization in topics related to pipeline, talent pools, etc.
  • Presents to stakeholders’ status and results of programs and acts as an advocate of participants with leadership for career advancement
  • Links external partner vision and strategy to the organization's goals and vision
  • Establish relationships with and measure effectiveness of current partnerships while identifying key contacts to increase Corning branding opportunities
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop campus recruiting strategy: event research and selection, post-event feedback, diversity plan, and employer branding
  • Manage processes, best practices and overall strategy for external partnerships

   o Fall and spring kick-off planning and execution

   o Candidate experience and on-boarding

               o Diversity recruitment and student pipelining

  • Create, schedule, and coordinate internal events to build upon employer brand                                                 
  • Activities are a blend of developmental activities/experiences, networking and community service
  • Supply and material coordination
  • Partner with DEI Program Manager to establish and maintain budget
  • Coordinate recruiting ambassadors to support external events, providing guidance and direction as needed
  • Identifying the best solutions to strengthen pipelines at every level in the organization.
  • Decisions related to pipeline partnerships, prioritizing areas/roles to focus, best approach to meet objectives ensuring projects are completed upon schedule and within budget.



  • May be flexible with 20 – 30% travel
