Role Purpose

The Manager, Tax Operations (International Tax) will be responsible for managing the international tax compliance function, executing tax policy, and managing and executing processes around the preparation of tax forecasting, tax provisions, tax accounting, and tax footnotes reported in public filings (e.g., Form 10Q and 10K) to ensure accurate financial reporting as well as enabling and maintaining a strong internal control environment. In this role, this individual will provide technical guidance and instruction to the Tax Department for matters related to US international tax compliance and reporting, as well as guidance and instruction on the tax accounting processes, procedures and deliverables.

 

Most importantly, we are looking for someone to manage the company's complex US international income tax compliance. This individual will collaborate closely with the Senior Manager, Tax Operations (International Tax) to drive tax strategies that optimize Corning's international business strategies and support US federal, state, and local tax provision process. He/she will also partner with other finance leaders in our Analytical Services (FP&A) and our Technical Accounting (Controller’s) groups to obtain the necessary data and to provide the tax analysis required to support Senior Management and GAAP and non-GAAP financial forecasting and reporting.

 

He/she will provide technical guidance and prepare US international calculations, including but not limited to GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Subpart F, APB23 and FTCs.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare/Review the International part of federal tax return (Forms 5471,8865, 8858, 1118, 5713)
  • Understand tax legislations and their impact on compliance
  • Review quarterly and annual foreign ASC 740 income tax provision
  • Review foreign return-to-provision templates, including local GAAP/IFRS statutory financials and local country
  • Review and analyze a variety of international tax issues
  • Manage and integrate Planning/M&A/TP projects into compliance
  • Provide Audit support on complex international issues
  • Ensure all foreign inclusions are properly calculated and are materially correct
  • Interface with external auditors (PWC) to support and defend current position
  • Understand tax legislation and their impact on ETR from tax reform perspective

 

 

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Minimum of five to eight overall years of corporate international tax experience preferred; progressively responsible tax experience in roles focused on US international tax and foreign tax management.
  • BA in Accounting and CPA required; MST preferred.
  • Must have experience in 5471, 8858, ASC 740-Accounting for Income Taxes and SEC reporting, preferably a combination of public accounting and in-house experience. This includes experience with consolidating worldwide tax provisions and effective tax rate analysis. ASC 740 specialty areas (i.e., purchase accounting, APB 23, interim periods, partnerships etc.).
  • Background in all facets of accounting for income tax, including U.S. international tax provisions of TCJA and the related provision impact.
  • Proficiency in income tax or provision software preferred (i.e., OneSource, Power BI, Excel, Alteryx, PeopleSoft)
  • Prefer strong tax technical skills including research.
  • Prefer one to three years of management experience with direct/indirect supervisory experience over multiple personnel.
  • An analytical thinker; willing to take charge. Able to work under tight deadlines.
  • A pro-active leader that has strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills

The range for this position is $141,071.00 - $193,973.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
