Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.
Role Purpose
We are currently seeking a skilled and knowledgeable Trade Show and Exhibits Demo Specialist for our Optical Communications division. This role requires a deep and evolving understanding of our products and the ability to effectively display them to demonstrate their functionality and features in an engaging way to clients through a variety of physical and experiential displays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the creation of product displays across all areas of the department, showcasing the unique features and benefits of our products.
- Assist the trade show, product display van and demo leads in ensuring that all displays are ready with up-to-date products and marketing materials.
- Work with stakeholders to design, create, manage, and maintain sales kits to ensure that products, promotional materials, and information is current and accurate.
- Develop and maintain product display boards and other exhibits, working independently and through vendors, taking care to present our products in the most effective and appealing way.
- Assist other departments with regular updates to the Maker's Space and other product display areas at COC facilities, ensuring that all displays and exhibits are kept polished, relevant, and up-to-date.
- Assist in the setup, teardown, and operation of trade show booths as needed, ensuring that our presence is professional, engaging, and informative.
- Act as a technical expert on all COC products, providing demonstrations and answering questions from coworkers and customers as requested.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience OR some college with minimum 5 years relevant experience.
- Proven experience in a role developing telecom network and product expertise, ideally within COC in fiber optics, and primarily gained through hands-on experience.
- Comfortable and experienced working with power and hand tools to create things. Mechanical and construction backgrounds is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively understand and explain complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot on the spot.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

The range for this position is $80,083.00 - $110,115.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
