The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies.  Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes.  IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide.

 

Scope of role:

Corning, Inc. is seeking a full-time Experience Designer specializing in consumer websites to join our Digital & IT Employee Experience Team. The ideal candidate demonstrates experience of the full product design skillset, executing from concept to engineering handoff autonomously with a deep understanding of user needs. You already have experience in solving complex problems, producing sound, effective design solutions while collaborating with the team to develop new ideas. Working with partners in product, technology, and business, you have experience and are comfortable working on a diverse range of projects.

  • Participate in the strategy and responsible for design of projects across product lifecycle and multiple product launches in collaboration with your cross-functional team.
  • Conduct insight-gathering activities and collaborate to align user research that informs intuitive designs for products and web applications.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to comprehend and translate requirements into practical designs.
  • Explore, refine, and document design solutions thoroughly. Demonstrate expertise in creating wireframes and prototypes in Figma to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas to leadership and business stakeholders.
  • Present ideas and concepts to peers and leadership stakeholders, providing strong rationale when decisions are needed. Clearly articulate concepts to ensure stakeholder buy-in.
  • Confidently express user, business, and/or technical reasoning for detailed design-decisions in critiques or presentations

 

Education Requirements and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Design or other related field.
  • 5-7+ years relevant experience

 

Required Skills:

  • 5-7+ years’ experience in User Experience Design, User Interface Design, Product Design.
  • Strong portfolio project experience, preferably with a focus on SaaS and/or B2B/B2C
  • Proficiency in software including Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or InVision and understanding of user interface design, user experience principles and usability testing.

 

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in interaction design and information architecture, with a solid understanding of user experience principles and their application within design systems.
  • Desire to improve user insights and metric tracking, to direct more user driven decisions.
  • Solid business acumen and ability to stay updated on business, strategy, and organizational structure at Corning.
  • Holds a UX design certification such as User Experience Certification (UXC), Certified User Experience Analyst (CXA), Certified Usability Analyst (CUA), etc.

 

Location & Travel:

  • Location can be based in Charlotte, NC or Corning, NY.
  • Up to 10% travel

The range for this position is $104,040.00 - $143,055.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
