Scope of the role: 

 

Lead plant Measurements and Controls team in support of manufacturing operations, through developing and deploying long term strategy, guiding priorities and resolution of equipment failure analysis and resolution.  Create and manage the controls project portfolio to support cost reduction, address obsolescence and ensure equipment reliability.  Create and deploy training and development plans for measurements and controls engineers and technicians.  Champion and lead management of change strategy to ensure modifications made in support of operations meet safety and quality requirements.



Job Responsibilities:


• Guide and support team in troubleshooting, updating and enhancing existing plant electrical/control systems.
• Drive receivership of electrical/control systems delivered to the plant, during design, fabrication, integration and testing, installation and production start-up.  Ensure training of plant personnel and technology transfer.
• Maintain and execute the Automation, Measurement and Controls strategy in the plant.
• Provide direction, prioritization, and coaching to M&C team.
• Track M&C objectives that directly link to plant objectives.
• Lead and champion control system safety for the group.
• Effectively working across various functional groups daily to accomplish goals.
• Provide support as required with motion control systems, robotics systems and inspections systems.
• Understand and implement both hardware and software components for controls systems.
• Lead projects for improvements to existing systems and/or introduction of new plant-specific controls equipment.
• Influence concepts and design of systems targeted for the plant interfacing with Division Measurements and Controls organization, including  participating in formal processes such as Controls Core Technology Review meetings and Core Technology summits.



Travel Requirements:  


• Less than 10% per year
• Could include travel for training and technology meetings



Hours of work/work schedule/flex-time: 


•  40- 45hour week:  Typically M - F, 8-5
• Weekend coverage as needed



Required Education and Experience:


• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology or related
• 8+ years electrical/controls experience



Required Skills:


• Track record of developing strategies and delivering results, on large scale projects or programs.
• Strong fundamental understanding of electrical design practices, machine / motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, programming, and system integration
• Demonstrated skills in control systems design, programming, systems integration and closed loop control systems
• Experience working in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to specify, configure, and implement the correct safety systems for applications.
• Well versed in the rules and regulation relating to implementation and best practices in electrical system design and implementation

 

Desired Skills:


• Previous direct people management experience or leading indirectly through large scale projects
• Some knowledge of equipment engineering, process support and debug
• Strong Leadership Background and desire to grow in technical leadership
• Vision System and/or Robotics Experience and Rockwell programming experience, specifically ControlLogix, integration and implementation

The range for this position is $144,673.00 - $198,926.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
