Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
Scope of Position
Provides process engineering support and expertise to a manufacturing organization, focused on continuous improvement, cost reduction initiatives, troubleshooting, and resolution of equipment issues.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Work with operators, team leaders and peers to develop and implement process, equipment, or safety improvements into manufacturing.
- Meet the day-to-day process support and related problem-solving needs of the department, while balancing the need for project success to move the department forward.
- Process ownership, including the achievement process improvement and cost reduction targets through process understanding and data analysis.
- Ensure all production and maintenance documentation are in place and current, including, SOP's, PM's, fixing guides and calibration.
- Leads and participates in improvement projects and effective problem analysis.
- Supports projects and provides the guidance to all aspects of bringing new equipment into production, preparation of financial justification, designing, specifying, purchasing, achievement of established targets, required documentation, and tracking all spending related to the project.
- Leads, Co-Leads or supports attribute improvement projects, cost reduction projects or equipment upgrades.
- Supports product/process/equipment activities as a key partner and receiving, helping to ensure the success of the targeted effort, and seamlessly integrating into production.
- Act with urgency to close out assigned projects actions by required deadlines.
- Consistently and effectively communicates issues, concepts, and opportunities to partners.
Experiences/Education - Required
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Materials/Ceramics Engineering
- 0-3 years of engineering experience
- Technically curious
- Ability to deal with multiple tasks/projects, complexity and changing priorities
- Ability to articulate concepts/ideas
- Strong work ethic and desire to exceed expectations
- Dedication to process rigor and organization skills
- Data analysis & statistics – ability to draw conclusions
- Sound decision-making skills
- Team player, working with all levels of personnel
- Basic knowledge of Six Sigma (DMAIC) methodology
- Effective communication and presentation skills
- Self-motivated with ability to function independently
- Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions
- Results oriented and high commitment
Experiences/Education - Desired
- Experience in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
- Experience designing and executing experiments; crafting hypothesis based on observations and scientific principles, and developing test methods to refute hypothesis.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, including formulas and graphing functions
- Demonstrated leadership or teamwork in accomplishing common goals

The range for this position is $69,791.00 - $95,963.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
