Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

 

Manufacturing Supervisor primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Monitor shift activities to ensure adherence to production scheduling, communicate performance to leadership, and provide direct instruction to production personnel.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels by evaluating performance capability, machine capacity, and maximize production efficiencies to meet plant demands.
  • Train, supervise, and review the performance of assigned staff as required.
  • Perform administrative duties which may include establishing employee schedules, processing time and attendance, administrating overtime, generating and processing pertinent reports (i.e. production reports, safety investigations, etc.) and other duties as required.
  • Responsible for the safety and security of plant personnel and equipment, executing production related communication activities, and coordination between affected departments, participate in Kaizen and 5-S line audits, and serve as an area owner for designated manufacturing areas.
  • Understand, communicate, and administer organizational policies, procedures, and the collective bargaining agreement as well as perform investigations and manage disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • This position works closely with operations management, safety, quality, engineering, and various other support functions.

 

Hours of work/work schedule:

  • This position supports a continuous 24/7 manufacturing operation.
  • Must be able to work any shift as assigned, including 12 hour rotating shifts on nights, weekends, etc.
  • Must be able to adjust work schedule as required.

 

Requirements for the Manufacturing Supervisor:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc)
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing safety and OSHA regulations
  • Ability to lead in a team-oriented environment, display a commitment to assisting and working with others, demonstrate safe behavior, drive department/plant safety goals, and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (i.e. safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals), write routine reports and correspondence, and to speak effectively before various audiences.
  • Ability to grasp technical details and understand impacts of the process and requirements for successful performance/quality organization.
  • Willingness to learn new things quickly and apply them. Also, willingness to ask for help so that issues are minimized
  • Perform other duties as required.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Engineering or Technical Bachelor’s Degree. 
  • 1-3 years experience in manufacturing environment

The range for this position is $63,086.00 - $86,743.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
