Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.

Role Purpose

Analyzing and interpreting data from measurement systems to ensure accuracy and reliability. Troubleshooting and implementing solutions for any issues or faults with measurement systems. Document technical processes, system requirements, and project progress for internal stakeholders. Design and Implement measurement systems for inspection, guidance, and identification in the manufacturing process of glass and ceramics.  Develop and refine software algorithms utilized in measurements technology.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Contribute to engineering projects focused on developing computer vision measurement systems incorporating machine learning and AI technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement algorithms for image processing and dimensional measurement analysis.
  • Develop and refine software programs essential for system functionality and performance.
  • Participate in the assembly and testing of measurement systems to ensure they meet quality and performance standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair measurement systems to support 24 hour manufacturing operations
  • Develop, design and execute Measurement Systems Analysis, and ongoing measurement monitoring and control strategies to ensure systems continually operate within quality systems requirements

Experiences/Education - Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Math, Physics, or a related field.
  • Able to work Monday-Friday 8am-5pm will include (Weekends, off hours, Holidays) to support 24/7 Facility 
  • Solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Results oriented and high level of dedication. 
  • Able to work in any stage of innovation and handle risk of failure.
  • Aim to learn new technologies and processes quickly.
  • Understands how to balance pursuit of fundamental understanding with driving forward business needs.

Experiences/Education - Desired

  • Knowledge or ability to learn motion controls software and ladder logic.
  • 1-3 Manufacturing experience desired. 
  • Knowledge of measurement system hardware technology
  • Able to collaborate across organizational boundaries and integrate solutions
  • Self-motivated and self-starter who is results oriented and can work independently with high commitment / energy
  • The ability to learn new technology and processes quickly
  • Previous experience using problem-solving methodologies such as process capability analysis, statistical process control methods, model development, Six Sigma DMAIC, Lean, DOE, MSAs, PQA and the Scientific Method.

The range for this position is $64,756.00 - $89,040.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
