Corning’s Environmental Technologies segment manufactures ceramic substrates and filter products for emissions control in mobile and stationary applications around the world.
SUMMARY: Performs multiple job tasks including machine setup and operation, process monitoring and decision making, inspection, ware handling, and maintenance. Rotate through a variety of functions to produce ceramic substrates for the automotive industry. The job requires work on a shift rotation. Certification and competency in the core modules is a condition of employment.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate production line machinery and computers.
- Troubleshoot production line machinery.
- Perform equipment change-overs.
- Responsible for quality control. Make adjustments as necessary to produce product within specifications. Reject product outside of specifications.
- Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analysis (JSAs).
- Operate forklift.
- Complete daily production logs.
- Communicate with operators from other shifts and teams.
- Clean and maintain work area.
- Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use.
- Other duties as assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist mechanics and machinists in repair work.
- Provide training to new employees.
- Maintain material supply.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- Operation of computer systems.
- Basic knowledge of mathematics including algebra.
- Vision correctable to 20/20.
- Lifting of weight up to 50 lbs. to waist height and 30 lbs. to shoulder height.
- Forklift operation.
- Use of hand tools.
- Hand manipulation of ware.
- Communications capability – written and verbal.
- Mobility over wide floor area and ability to negotiate stairs.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protection, steel toed shoes, and gloves. A dress code is strictly enforced.
The starting pay for this position is $23.13 hourly rate. Compensation and benefits available for this position are dictated by the appropriate Collective Bargaining Agreement.
