Scope of Position: As the Quality Systems Engineer you will provide quality expertise to various areas of the plant in order to maintain and improve Blacksburg’s Quality Management Systems and maintain IATF 16949 certification and internal audit systems. In this position you will act as administrator for both the Corrective and Preventive action and APiS (Control plan and PFMEA) systems, apply technical knowledge and practices to effectively accomplish assignments, support projects, and to fulfill department objectives in direct support of manufacturing operations of CELCOR products.

 

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing, updating, and implementing new and existing quality management systems to ensure compliance to IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements.
  • Maintain documentation of quality management systems and procedures.
  • Organize and conduct internal Management Review for quality management systems.
  • Coordinate and prepare the facility for the external quality management systems IATF 16949 surveillance audits.
  • Keep up with IATF sanctioned Interpretations
  • Ensure quality records are compliant with DARM retention schedule.
  • Prepare customer required self-assessments and audits / visits as required. Facilitate resolution of any non-conformances or findings.
  • Maintain the Corrective and Preventative System to include to include key CAPA metrics and maintenance of CAPA Action Logging and Tracking system.
  • Owner of the quality management internal auditing systems. Organize internal audits, as well as, provide feedback from these audits to area owners to facilitate resolution of any findings.
  • Conduct quality management system training/communications.

 

Hours of work/work schedule/flextime:

  • 40-50 hrs./week, typical 8 am-5 pm with some potential flex time for business needs. Weekend team coverage required on a rotating schedule.

 

Required Education and Area of Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required: Engineering or Technical field preferred
  • At least 0-2+ years of manufacturing experience

 

Required Skills:

  • Ability to work in a team-based environment as well as individually
  • Self-motivated and self-starter: results oriented and can work independently with high commitment / energy
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload with good planning and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, statistical programs (i.e. minitab, jump)
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 standards
  • Knowledge of Control Plan & PFMEA Requirements
  • Statistical background: MSA studies and analysis
  • IATF 16949 Auditor / Lead Auditor Certified
  • VDA 6.3 auditor / Lead auditor
